I decided to make another model from scratch and at random using AC3D (which totally rocks!!!). It has a low polygon count and is really simple. So far, it's not done, and has no texture or color, but once it is, I'm going to try to get it FPSC ready. Hopefully it'll work. Here's the pictures...first one...

But I have to post pictures. How am I supposed to not double post and post pictures at the same time?

Get a photobucket account. They are pretty useful to have anyway.

Yes, i think i have about 500 images in my account or something, you just upload some pictures by selecting the files, then you will get different links, you can copy the [IMG] link and paste it in your posts and the images will show up in your post, pretty handy but scale down your images a little so they dont fill the whole screen.

It looks ok, but did you use edit poly or did you mostly just make primitives?

I have learned that its really rewarding to use alot of edit poly instead of building up your models of primitives

And one more thing, it looks kind of "boxy" but its ok

hey for one of your first models its good, just build up some more definition on the main section of the tank, give it more detail, and it will improve the model a fair bit

OK, forget about the first model. I made something way better with, guess what? HANDS. I finally made some decent hands for the first time. Here's a few pictures. The model is a futuristic (Yeah, I know, I always make futuristic stuff) machine gun that isn't simple at all. And this time, I didn't use primitives only.

Slap no, sprays you with digi water, no

Don't touch the subdiv button! lol

its not a good practise, but the concept looks good and the hands look quite good too, although please dont tell me about the poly count, =p

cheers cb

Yeah, it took me longer to make the hands than the gun. Why not touch the subdiv button? I like it and use it a lot. I don't subdiv to the max, I just click it like once. And yeah, you don't want to know the poly count ... But it doesn't really matter since it's just another one of those models that just sit on my desktop and rust.

While it does add detail quickly, it often adds too much in areas not needed. Subdivide is also often not practical for game art. The realism you have found in subdivide can be made up with if you choose to apply a normal map. Does AC3D do texture baking at all?

Texture baking? No, don't think so. Why?

Hey bman332211, you might want to post a seperate thread for that. I don't know how to get my gun FPSC ready because...well...I don't really know. I think that with another thread, you might get more attention and be able to post exactly what you did.

I find Halo 3 quite fun, and many other people do as well. Anyways, its not like its the end of the world. Things happen, sometimes we just have to move on and live with it.
