Hi there, here is a tank that i am working on, it is just a personal project so i wasn't bothered about the poly count. It has still got a little way before it is done, i think it took me around 3 hours to get this far (maybe 4).

The spikes are very numerous and distracting and take away from the overall appeal. There is also an unnecessary amount of cylinders/gears on the side of the tank.

Can we see a wire please?

Is there any reason that every square plate has four cylinders under it (presumably nails or something) that aren't even visible in the actual render?

Even without worrying about polies, those spikes are overkill...

Sort of useless turret, it can't even rotate with all those spikes in the way.

I like the spikes, what you removed looks good, I am assuming you will be baking this to a lower poly model?

I doubt it...

The turret seems pretty unfunctional, an attack from the side/behind and it's be doomed...

Guys, get used to it, he does these projects alot, for practice, its not supposed to go into anything. So poly limits are restricted to whenever his computer decides to die.

But anyway, I like it

The spikes were a bit crazy on the top, but the track spikes look good.

Just make the turret a bit rounder, and raised a tad bit, just to show that it can rotate if it has to

ok here's the update, ive fixed the weird issue where some of the armour plates were rotated about 3-5 degrees into the model, ive also added all of the bolts for the plates, and have started on the rotatable turret

First of all, you overuse the same detail too much, it simply doesn't look good, and those tracks would never have worked, I mean, those wheels seem to be attached to some flat thing that would never spin.
The turret just looks boxy and not really that good.
I personally don't like it, but then again, it's just beveled boxes with spikes and plates on them.

I think it looks awesome but the main cannon looks a little short. although it might just be the perspective of the render

Ditto...

Sorry for the tread hijack, but I'm fascinated by catepiller tracks for some obscure reason. I made a model recently, while it's not excellent, I did try and put believable mechanics into the tracks. I think I succeeded to some extent. Take a look and try and get some ideas.

With your tank, the tracks don't seem to have any grip on the track wheels, which isn't realistic. Also, as other say, the turret needs work. It doesn't look like a tank turret.

Still, not bad, but just needs some work. Keep it up!

Yeah, i agree toasty, i did actually try to make the track wheels actually "slot" into the grooves like yours but it ended in utter failure. Any help/tips would be appreciated

Thanks

Awesome Tank! I think its just fine the way it is!! By the way, I don't think people should've been so hard on you, I mean, that looks like it was pretty hard to build. Plus, if they saw what tanks look like in the Warhammer 40k games, they'd know what a misfunctional tank looks like.

I'm fascinated by the tracks, too. Nice work!!!
Try texturing it.

Nothing is too hard as long as you can achieve it (*Note* This does not apply to programmers).

I think the turret is to small for how massive the chassis is. I think your details are fine except the plates. The plates are arranged in a very predictable manner. They are also in danger of distracting from the overall shape and design. Id lessen the amount of plates and find interesting places to put them to add interest to your tank.

Good job and keep it up

Hey, just wanted to say, the first image is what caught my eye the most.

That kind of detail is probably overkill for games, but not for advertising it... I think it's underkill.

For instance, the top of the rotating turret looks way too empty, and doesn't match the treads or the tank's design. The front looks bare, and basically it looks like half the tank has a personality and the other half doesn't, but the whole thing should have a "feel", something that catches my emotions.
