Hi guys,

This isn't offically funded by the company, but I've got a years rental on a teamspeak server setup. So rather than waste it, anyone who wants to chat over voice, you can join it. Please be respectful, I will keep it moderated.

I hope this will be a great new extention to the community. And a place for people to interact with each other in a realtime enviroment.

To join, you need to download Teamspeak 2 Client from http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Then once the software is installed, click on File > Quick Connect and type in:

Server Address
ts.instantvchat.com:8778

NickName
[Anything non offensive]

Login Name
[Leave this Empty]

Password
[No password]

Then click on Connect.

To setup your microphone, click on:

Settings > Settings

Select the Input and Output devices on your system and click on OK

Settings > Sound Settings

Put a Dot in Push to Talk (this prevents unintended sounds being transmitted)

Set > Press any key you want, I use Left Control.

Click on Activate local test mode to hear a playback of your own voice. This ensures your microphone is working.

I hope you all enjoy the new service.

Voice chat! That should separate the men from the boys.

If at first you don't succeed, relax. You're like the rest of us.

I know this sounds like taking the piss, but you really should have gotten a Ventrilo server instead Still a cool idea though

I've found Ventrilo not very user friendly in the past. While it's sound quality is great. Teamspeak's interface tends to be easier to pick up for new users.

The TS server is great, i've been on it on a number of occasions, and i'd encourage everyone to hop on and give it a go. With a lot of people on, we could have some good discussions.

Great work Daniel.

Can we make separate rooms or is everyone in the same boat?

From what I remember, there are separate rooms for each major TGC product (FPSC, DBP, DGDK), one for mods only, and one for Geek Culture.

Just downloaded, I hope my mike works.

EDIT: Working out how to speak... help files dont give much help

EDIT: All working now. Thanks Daniel

I think you should unsticky this. On these forums stickying = hiding. Just look at the amount of views a sticky gets in comparison to a normal thread. Average for this board is 100 - 200 views a day, on this thread its less than 50. At least your doing better than idare, that has less than 25.

I'll try it later; maybe we could discuss about something.

Sweet, I'll have to check this out. Although the IRC thing didn't really take off did it? I wonder if this will.

Hey i think this is an excellent idea DanielTGC.

Just one teeny suggestion though, I had absolutely NO idea that there was a TS server that we could use, until i randomly did a forum search for "voice chat" ..(for the reason of looking for any else that had integrated voice chat into their games, without a client server setup like TS or vent)

Perhaps we could get an announement as a sticky in other forums aswell lol.

Anyway, thanx again DanielTGC, great idea.

If it ain't broke.... DONT FIX IT !!!
