Apple, when the first iphone came out everyone bought it then they dropped the price $100 so they gave everyone that bought the original iphone before the price drop a refund of $100 dollars.

Great deal, this should bring in a bunch of new users, which is ALWAYS a good thing for everyone involved - it keeps FPSC alive and kicking.

I've gotten 4 years of updates for free, some have been bug fixes, but many more have been awesome new features (Dark Lights, new scripting commdands, etc.). So props to TGC for that!

This would be better if there would be model packs 21-26 or something. But that would be too generous of TGC, of course.

But those who don't have FPSC and those model packs in this thingy, this is a great deal, I think. They will be happy, lol.

My blood pack will have 500 blood overlays some day! I hope...

Well, you too could take advantage of the deal and get all those model packs for $30(plus another copy of FPSC which you could give to someone else)... I assume there is nothing which states that if you already own a copy of FPSC that you can't purchase this deal. Even if you only want 2 of those model packs you're saving money.

Again, I personally don't see what the problem is here. Most of the software I have bought over the years has dropped in price, or is free, I was offered no refund.

Just using Torque as an example I purchased a license for $100. Now if I want to upgrade I need to pay another $50 to upgrade my license to the latest version. So far not a single update to FPSC has meant anyone has had to purchase a license upgrade and as Bond pointed out,not all of these updates were mere bug fixes. When the migration finally arrives, as far as I know, it will also be free. Not many companies will offer a major revision of their software free for existing users!

FPSC contains many animated characters by itself. As for the model packs, they're not the greatest ones, but this would still be a great deal if it didn't include any of the model packs.

TGC can kiss the FPSC upgrade cash goodbye.Why would anyone want to buy it when you get all this for a few dollars more?
I agree that TGC could be nice a throw a bone to the older customers but if they don't I have goten my money's worth out of it.
This is the way all products work.Eventually they lower in cost.

older customers still get perks they are the ones that got a special deal when X10 came out....I'm sure that you all remember for those who entered The Nvidia compo got a voucher For $20 I got MP6 for that voucher...

Then of course there are the prizes that TGC has given up for grabs over the last few years for forum game compos.

Don't forget all the Free media that people have offered over the years to it's forum members.

We can be proud of a free media scene that rival most other engine websites...

So stop your yapping and support TGC for once....!!!

It's a great deal and actually I'm a little tempted just because I don't have MPs 3 or 7 already. I wish they'd have some sort of similar deal for X10

It's worth noting that all of the included MPs look to be the ones that TGC owns all the rights to. That's why you don't see freelancer packs included (I'm assuming they must be buying full rights on the Arteria ones because they're on GCS under the TGC label). There are contractual barriers which would make some of the packs a non-option when such deep discounts are involved.

Anyhow, I hope this will bring in more paying customers because that would be good for everyone

(And yes- On several occasions I've paid $16-20 for a new DVD to see it in the same store two years later; shrink-wrapped with 2 or more other DVDs for $5-10.. I didn't take it personal but then again I think I own 3 or 4 versions of Evil Dead 2 because they keep adding stuff and I keep paying full price every time there's an update- that does get under my skin!)

I wish

I think it's also worth taking into account that a lot of "senior" FPSC users, who people think would benefit from discounted model packs, have moved on to producing their own custom media.

All you guys that are against this.

What you want to do about it? You cant do anything, it is just how it goes. TGC wont change anything about that.

I agree with Paul122...

Quote: "have moved on to producing their own custom media."

you better off making your own custom media, as it would make your game original...

EX: if everyone uses bond1 zombies i wouldnt play the game, as i think it is a bit non-orginal, i am not saying that those models arent amazing. they are very cool, but it wouldnt make your game original, although with a nice rexture, it would make original, so it is albout your touch to things....

Some modelpacks are crap (bad texture) (not detailed enough), and some i think it is just for the money. others are cool, and needed for a game.

TGC knows what they are doing. It is how busniss goes.

This is really a fantastic idea to make a bulk of products with a huge discount.

I wonder if TGC can propose some kinds of discounts for former users as well for example those who owns more than five packs can get another pack they don't own it using a 33% discount for example and those who owns 10 or more to get 50% and those who own more 15 packs can get 75% etc ...

Or what every any idea for former users.

Anyway the Bonanza offer is worth the money!

Yeah, and another idea would be a checkbox type form offering the user their choice of any 5 of the 27 model packs, etc.
Then the user could pick the 5 packs that they wanted to start out with to go with the engine.
You know they would buy more packs once they get the game building bug, so it really doesn't matter which packs they get.
I guess it is partially up to the authors too though, since their commision is getting cut too.
So, thanks to all the creators of the packs included, because we really appreciate this good deal.

Yes - but that upgrade really only applies to the Free edition of FPSC. This offers is about the full boxed DVD version that also has additional sci-fi and ww2 media included.

I think that the TGC is doing the right thing. Technology keeps moving forward and you have to keep fighting. There are more game making software becoming available so if you can lock in some more users all the better for your long term survival. For the earlier adoptors .. You had the FPSC earlier, you should have used it to make piles of money by making plenty of games and selling them, instead of now grumbling over a $20 or a $30 or even a $1000. These people placed into your hands the tools to make you wealthy, a few years ago. If you did not reap these millions, you alone are to blame. Roll On TGC!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I can. This exact situation happened to me whilst I had Half life 2 on Pre-order with Game a few years back. I paid a £20 deposit + the other £25 on the day (Grand total of £45) for Half life 2 (It was worth it though.) I then encountered that Steam where giving HL2 + CSS (Including HL2 Deathmatch and DoD) for Less than the price I paid for HL2 alone. I then went back to game and complained, and they offered me a full refund or the CSS source + HL2 deathmatch and DoD disk, So I took the CSS option.

Evidence that you can beat the system

There's no limit on how many times you download a model pack is there?

Just say for example I download the model packs, then later on in the year re install windows, would I be able to download them again from my order history?

It's the full version on cd. It doesn't need the build game upgrade. It's simply built-in The cd version also has a lot of extra models over the Free version of FPSC.

Quote: "There's no limit on how many times you download a model pack is there?"

No. I have downloaded my model packs at least three times now. I am going to keep a local backup from now on though.

I think it is like 5 or so, then you have to contact TGC for additional ones.
I may be wrong about that but I seem to recall there is a limit.

Actually FPSC Free + Build upgrade has less content than the Full commercial download version and its CD companion from the Bonanza offer.

If you've bought FPSC Bonanza you will get the full version either way.

Hi,

having a little problem here. I ordered the FPS Creator Bonanza and my CD arrived. But I can't build a standalone game. It says I have to buy the BUILD GAME UPGRADE for 2000 Game Store points. I thought it´s the full version of FPS Creator. Am I wrong and I have to buy this upgrade or is something wrong with my installation? I used the key from the DVD Box.

You upgraded right? To V115 or so? You have to reenter your cd key while FPSC is not running in the userdetails.ini file in the main FPSC folder.

Yeah, Nickydude has instructions on what to do in the last post of a sticky thread.
I only realized just now that mine said Free too.
So, I just had to do this and it seems to have solved it easy enough.

Quote: "

Quote: "Help, I've just upgraded my paid for FPSC and now it say's it's the free version and I can't build!"

If you get this then open the userdetails.ini file in the main FPS folder and add your name and serial number:

[PERSONAL DATA]
YourName=Name goes here
YourSerialCode=Serial number goes here
YourFullPath=C\: Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator

[LOCALIZATION]
language=english

There should be no space between an equals sign and the text.

Thank you very much for the help. Editing the userdetails.ini file and entering the serial number and name did it. Everything works now as I expected it. Thanks again for the quick help.

I got this a few days ago, Once you order it you will wait no more then 24 hours to be able to download the full version of fpsc, And the model packs. The shipping for the box version depends on where you live its a great buy. like for 30$ worth every penny!
