Beta 1

Labryx is a game with a very simple concept... Be the last person alive. The game takes place in an arena where a giant saw goes around killing everyone. The goal is to stay alive and to outlast the three other players. You will be able to get power ups which give you special abilities that last 10 seconds. The full version of the game will be superior to the Beta test in every way. The final version will contain more power ups, 'power downs', traps and special tiles and a level editor.

The controls are simple:
- use the arrow keys to move
- power ups after collected (which look like spheres inside of cubes) can be used by pressing the space bar
- the "telekinesis" ability is activated by using the space bar and then the arrow keys

* dont forget that the power ups only last for 10 seconds
* also, your the green one

So please try out the first beta version of this game and le me know what you like/dislike and mention any glitches that occur ( I know theres still quiet a few)

i tryed it i was the 3rd one to die.

however there were a handful of problems:
* the fps wasn't capped so the game lasted 35 seconds lol.
* the powerup appears after the game is over.
* you should really compress your exe file in zip or rar format.

other than the above it is a good start, for as long as i could play it.

Neat game, I really like the concept, but for some reason I remember seeing this before?

I played the second level twice, and both times the red AI ran straight into the saw before the match even started. And while the saw was frozen, every time I would use a new powerup, it would just say "freeze" again, even though I got something else.

thanks for the feed back so far you guys

I am working hard to fix those listed problems.

Im working to try and limit the FPS so that the game isnt too fast on different computers.

@ Jimpo: I understand why those glitches are happening and will have them fixed for Beta 2

The idea sounds cool. However.... ummm... well. After the countdown-timer had expired, the saw waited at its spot for about 5 or 10 seconds while the bots ran around on the right side. I wondered what the saw was (not) doing and waited at some distance. Suddenly it started moving and within something like 0.2 seconds I was dead. You should really work on a constant speed. But I'm sure, as soon as you managed this, the game will be quite fun.

BETA 2

I have fixed many of the problems with the first beta. This newest version has:

- option to limit speed(FPS)
- glitches fixed and various tweaks
- better AI
- the game automatically restarts to the title screen after someone wins

I've also added in a new map.

I hope this one works better and let me know what you think.

BETA 3
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just finished the 3rd Beta version of Labryx!
In addition to making small tweaks and fixing glitches this version has:

- 2 player mode!!!
- special tiles*

*the special tiles are ice and mud. The ice tiles make you move fasterbut lose control. The mud tiles slow you down.

To try out these new tiles I have added 2 new arenas!!!

- Tundra: this arena is chaotic fun with ice surrounding most of the outer area while the center is gaurded by mud and walls

- Diamond in the Rough: this arena contains only 1 powerup, the catch is that youmust travel through alot of mud to get it... do you think its worth the risk???

Any way have fun and give me some feed back.

thanks for playing!
