Saw is on tuesday, with my gf (she loves transformers). I've seen the first film a couple of years back, I could remeber the basic plot but not much of the details. The CGI is amazing! The films good too ^^, pretty standard action flick but it'll keep you entertained for 2 and a half hours. The story line is kind of cheesy, but it's not terrible, in fact I quite like it. Yeah it's well worth the watch.

I thought it was pretty good. It was pretty funny, had lots of action, giant robots, and Megan Fox.

Meh, hate to be a spoil sport guys but the movie wasn't all that good...it was alright.
#1- they wayyyyyyyyyyyy overused slo mo scenes of robots ripping other robots limbs off. Its cool the first 2-3 times then it gets a little old after you lose count
#2- the transformers mention how Sam is all courageous and sacrifices alot for their cause, all I saw him do in the movie was run away from stuff and scream OPTIMUS!!! several times (once in slo mo too)
#3- they tried a little too hard to be funny and a little too much, don't get me wrong there were funny parts but those two small robots got a little annoying at the end.
#4- story was downright cheesy, stupid, and obviously a throw together kind of thing to make more money off of their success with the first one.
#5- kind of a pet peeve but, The Fallen?!? they could've come up with something a little more creative for the robot's name (not the name of the movie, that was fine)
#6- the humans were a little too effective against the transformers. I mean at the end there was maybe 50-100 soldiers and about 10-20 tanks, and 5 autobots. That along with the airstrikes were ripping the decepticons apart, for super advanced war machines from another planet that made them look kind of weak (let me remind you there were 15 decepticons)

But thats just my opinion, sorry you had to read all of that

She doesn't, there are certain assets that she possesses that do. I'm not going to see it just because of her, but it's nice to get a bit of eye candy every once in a while...sex does sell.
I'm going to see it, purely to see if they have massacred another childhood memory.

(thats not fair, i quite enjoyed the first one. Except the fact the actual transformers seemed second to the prissy little love story that was trying to surface)

Fact is, most of us that have girlfriends here feel the same way. This is a forum called Geek Culture anyways. However, I don't really care how smart she when she's acting in a movie. She's hawt.

Is it sad that Transformers the Movie surpasses both of these in every single way except special effects? I mean, better story, more meaningful action sequences, more tragic deaths, more locals, more memorable dialogue, better sound track (well, I think so), better characters... I just watched this new one, and the original cartoon movie, and well there's not much more to it. These new ones suck compared to that. I especially like how in the old one the humor makes me laugh and not cringe. Eh, whatever.

J/k,

The film was alright I suppose, the CG was pretty sweet, but I wish they'd actually not include humans next time... -.-

Yeah, but to me that is in general. Which is why I find my female friends more attractive then Megan. I am just like that.

Anyway, I will watch the movie sometime when I get the chance. Have heard much good about it.

Read a review, and it was bad. But when I asked my friend and look at what you guys say, it is a good movie. So I guess the best one can do is to watch it and make up ones own mind.

Usually thats a good idea. I mean, me and friends have been watching the worst rated movies ever, and you'll be surprised how much decent stuff is among those.

I liked it, going to see it again soon with other friends - no other fun movies at this moment. Maybe I'll see some more explosions this time over.

Worst film this year for me. Amazingly average story, confusing action, poor characters. There were a FEW good bits, a few funnies, and a few times that the action was readable, but essentially, it was pretty crap. Michael Bay sucks dong.

A movie is good if it entertains you.

Why would you go to a TRANSFORMERS movie looking for an above average story and deep, involved characters? You go there for laughs and robots killing eachother. And Megan Fox.

Fox is not even that hot. Sure has great assets, if you keep a bag on her head.

1 - How many ways can you kill a robot with what the autobots/humans had? Slicing off parts, tearing limbs, crushing skulls, ripping out power sources... I count 4, although I could be missing a few. And all of those happened during the movie.

2 - Well gee, Sam is human and autobots are machines. They can rip the skin off of Sam like Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. I would be afraid too if they wanted to do some weird alien probing on me.

3 - Agreed

4 - It's not like they came up with this story. The comics influenced it a lot. And I don't think it was cheesy, I just think it was too fast paced, even for a long movie.

5 - Again, pretty sure it was the comic influence here, not the movie creators

6 - Well they did have a previous encounter with them, they did have time to study the autobots since the first movie (even thought the autobots would not tell them how to make advanced weapons) and they did have time to train and come up with solutions. I think the humans being more effective in this film is entirely practical.

I was unfortunately six seats from the screen at the theater, so when all the fights happened, it was sometimes a bit hard to see everything. I thought the camera was ridiculously close at times, they should have done a better job there. I still thought the movie was awesome though.

And please, gag me with all this Megan fox talk. I thought that whole camera spinny thing around Fox and LaBouff near the beginning of the movie was fricking retarded.

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't like how the these types of movies are made these day, maybe it's just Micheal Bay but look at what can be achieved in movies today. We have a movie about frickin cool alien robots that can transform, fight other alien robots and... alien ROBOTS. And thanks to the CGI team they look amazing. But thats not enough, we have to have a human funny man Shia LaBeouf as the lead, Megan Fox crotch shots for sex appeal, both of them together for romance, a story for all audiences but fans and 360 degress shots of untransform alien robots to keep the vechicle companies happy.

Shouldn't the main focus be ALIEN FIGHTING TRANSFROMING ROBOTS, that premiss alone would sell me, the only thing that could top that is if they added NINJA to the front of it. Who cares if the movie sucked, I'd go just for the movie ticket that I would have blown up and framed to hang in my living room for everyone to see.

A dream is a fantasy, if you achieve that fantasy it was never a dream to begin with.

One of the worst "big" summer films I have ever seen. I expected it to milk the CGI and provide little substance, but it really outdid itself.
The first one wasn't exactly great - and this one was worse.

Yawn

I agree that this one was slightly better than the original, but that's not saying much as I generally hated both of them.

My wife always forces me to go to these mindless summer action flicks

When's the last time a serious movie was made with this kind of budget and special effects capability? Titanic? Nowadays the characters are hollow, 1-dimensional, and the plot is full of holes. They always add in annoying characters to get cheap laughs from the lowest common denominator consumer (the two "ghetto" robots come to mind, gold tooth and everything). Ugh. So lame.

The CG was EXCELLENT, though. But movies need much more than special effects. It reminds me of when many games were made comprised fully of FMV clips, with little interaction and questionable "game" elements.

Serious movies don't need as much money though. With great writing, and an enthralling story, you don't need to throw money at it.

I won't pretend transformers is a work of Shakespeare or that the story was that amazing. But a lot of us grew up with transformers. It's a pleasure to see them take, what is in many ways a fairly ridiculous concept, (I mean transforming robots? It's soooo japaneese when you think about it), and actually make it feel like something more. It captures that simplistic 1980's "good vs bad" feel, while throwing in enough real human emotion and drama to make it engaging. (not to mention battle hardened alien robots blowing stuff up)

There was humour, heroics, self sacrifice, great effects, and suspense. If you look at other attempts, such as the recent Dragonball Evolution movie (I'm a dbz fan I'm not shamed to say, and that movie was just insulting!), thunderbirds (I mean spykids), it's nice to see one of my childhood classics remade, treated with respect, and updated very well while keeping the original spirit.

Now if they’d only do Ulysses 31 up to this standard, my life would be complete.

I think the movie was awesome. At least as good as the first. Perhaps those twin robots threw in a little too much George Lucas style comedy.

You have to admit the battle sequences are just amazing though.
