Well... Can't really say anything much seeing as it is just a cylinder with no added details...

travis thats a good start ,but you need to spend a bit more time on your texture work .

below is a model i made some time back ,the model took about 10 mins to make but the texture took a good few hours to get right.

hope this helps

cheers henry

i think the poly count turned out pretty low
i just used some nurbs,i didnt take much time into it its just that i have seen several posts that need flashlight models for their games

its not low for a flash light.....to make something round you need about 8-10 polys. if i had to make a guess on how many polys that was i would put my money on 250.

although it does look nice.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/UV_Map_Basics

http://www.biorust.com/index.php?page=tutorial_detail&tutid=85

there's three tutorials. the first is the easiest the last is the most complex. they show two different ways. the second and third one are the same way bu the third is a more complex model.

third link isn't workin sorry.

found a replacement

So instead of typing "Blender UV map tutorial" in Google and finding the answer in a matter of seconds, you're going to wait here and have somebody else waste their time to find you a tutorial that you could have just as easily found? I now know the meaning of life.

EDIT: And coming from the man who bumped a 2 month old topic to say "search for it"...

travis: just 3 little things: practice, practice, practice and try to be more polite i guess...

henre ham: nice flashlight, but it contains some unnecessary loops, and some bugs in the geometry I like the texture anyway.

nothing serius, just small thingies...

I thing everybody can see the loops, they are really not matter for the shape but increase the policount unecessary.

bugs:
The front(maybe the back too) of the flashlight is not cut into quads or tris, only one poligon. not lucky to let the exporter to triangulate, sometimes make mistakes, so better to cut into pieces the poligons like this.

And the switch part is an individual part of the model and not modelled out from the main geometry, so maybe generate some gl bugs if you see the model a kind of far ingame.

But now, I make me silent

it doesn't form a circle.... they should be equally spread apart to for a circle. since flashlights are round an all.

sculpt in blender should only ever be used for high poly objects, like a detailed head or what not, dont use it on something like this as you dont have as much control as you do in edit mode, also dont ever make you model pitch black because it means we cant see it
