Magic Particles is a special editor that allows you to create visual effects based on particle systems quickly and visually. Ignescent text, flying comets, autumn leaves dancing in a gust of wind, snowstorms and multicolored fog, wriggly tentacles of outlandish creatures, fantastic silhouettes of plants - all these and many more are possible. The program is so simple and easy to use that anyone can create professional special effects in just a few minutes and mouse clicks.

Games developers will be interested in the API version. It allows programmers to implement special effects directly in their programs. The API includes the particle path engine and tools to import particle data. Detailed information about all functions and C++ program examples are supplied along with API.

The API program delivery also includes the advanced Magic Particles application. It supports functions oriented towards application developers such as the creation of image atlases.

what about a wrapper for gdk that randers to a texture/plane instead of directly to the screen? magic particles would become really useful then!

Will there be a converter to allow for use in FPSC?
Or if not, can the sprites generated be split into separate frames so we can do the FPSC decals ourselves?
Just wondering

What would be good is that the migration version of FPSC had particles and we could use Magic Particles to create our own to include in games.

Edit: Is there any videos showing the particles in action?

There is a demo that you can download from the Magic Particles site.... the particles look quite nice, but they are completely 2d atm...

the 3D "look" is due to sprites being made of portions of the image and placed "over the top" of the particles. So, for instance if your game was 3D, it would be difficult to place them where you want them.

If you have a look at the forums aswell, there is a couple of requests for the GDK wrapper to have different rendering options, so that we can render the particles to a 3d object, last time I checked though it hadnt been done.

If it ain't broke.... DONT FIX IT !!!

How does this work with object sorting in 3D? Or is this only for 2D particles?
