Hey guys.

I think some of you recall a thread of mine pertaining to this issue. Well, it still continues. I can get through from only half of a mission to a whole mission + autosave without it freezing.

Basically, what happens is that the game, while playing, locks up and crashes/freezes, requiring me to do a hard reboot to the console. The console is lying vertically on the carpet by the TV stand and is about ½ a foot away from the wall. Should I put the console on the TV stand or leave it be? I think there's no overheating issue as I feel no heat eminating from and hole in the console. I think there may be a disc drive problem as my dad bought the Arcade version back in June I think. The game worked fine when I first got it but now it just craps on me every chance I get. Please help me out - this also appens with Brothers in Arms: Hel's Highway, only that game has a "Disc Unreadable" error every ten minutes.

The problem is the disc, not the console. Mine did exactly the same.

The latest dashboard update lets you copy games onto the hard drive. Use this to get around the problem (because it's the drive read, or failure, that is causing this). It will solve your problem, assuming it's able to read the whole disc to get it onto the hard drive in the first place.

Or send the disc back and ask for a replacement.

GTA IV works fine for me, and I run straight from disc.

I have no hard drive and I doubt they'd give me a replacement.

Or the problem is your disc drive. If you're starting to get disc read errors on multiple games which are scratch free then I would say your drive is on its way out.

You think I should send it to Micro$oft with a letter asking for a new drive?

The problem persists, but the game won't even start because "the disc is dirty or damaged". I'm getting tired of this BS. I'm gonna have to shell out money for a new damn copy just because M$ sells crappy disc drives.

If your disc drive is broken then buying a new disc won't fix your problem. Is your 360 out of warranty?

No, it's still in warranty for three years, but my dad is being as stubborn as possible & won't think that there's a problem. The other games work fine, though, so it's most likely the disc.

My xbox completely malfunctioned so I had to return it. I baught a new one and it came with a free 60gb HD. I had the same problem with GTA until I installed it to the HardDrive. So, get a Hard-Drive. Lol sorry for ramble I wasn't sure what I was typing.

The three year warranty is only for RRoD I think otherwise it's just one year.

I hate the 360... Its such a good gaming console, with an awesome arsenal of games and online features.... but it also has a not so awesome arsenal of overheating, freezing, not working online, and breaking problems. If the 360 didn't have the issues it does, it would be the best console ever... but it doesn't so its not.

I've had the dreaded Red Ring, which happened over Christmas.... It was a pain not having the console for 2 weeks, but the people I spoke to on the phone from Microsoft were awesome...

I haven't had any online problems, so I don't know about that. Unless you count obnoxious idiots yelling at me over the mic problems

Okay so I have two tasks here.

1) Get a new copy of GTAIV. {in progress}
2) Convince my dad that the system needs fixed so he can send it down to Texas so M$ can fix it, plus you get a month of free XBox Live. I call that a sweet deal.

And yet you're still using stupid abbreviations for Microsoft such as M$? Not meaning to be rude, but seriously - what do people use that abbreviation for?

I really don't know why it's used. I jumped on the bandwagon for it.

I find it odd to since Microsoft don't do anything worse than other companies do.

In Australia if you're out of warranty on your 360 it costs $130 (Australian) to fix it... if you are out of warranty on your PS3 it costs $300... and considering the PS3 costs twice as much as the 360 to start with I find it odd that people don't call them $ony.

Even their policy of it costing developers money to have people download their demos on the PSN doesn't have people complaining about how money grabbing Sony are.
