@Bacon:
Go Here and draw the charcater and post the sketches on OpenFPS Forum. So that at least I know how they look before I start modeling them.I am not good in 2D drawing

Sorry haven't been available to help for a while. I've been watching this thread and occasionally read stuff on Devstom; Nice work guys!

I've now found myself a bit more time which I plan on devoting to this project; 3d art.

Heading over to Devstorm to see the ToDO list.

@B++
Thats funny, and the bacon concepts were there to help a friend on his project.
Well I wasn't sure if you meant to post the concepts on TGC or DevStorm, so I'm doing both. I also did quick personality matching weapons for each:

Sentinel has a backpack machine gun base off the one in the movie 'Fortress' with Christopher Lambert, Vanishing Act has a compack semi-auto rifle, and Anarchist has a semiauto gernade launcher, losely based off the Halo:CE RocketHog.

If you don't like a part of either of them, let me know and I'll try a different approach (I did these all in an hour).

Mike aka Bacon

ps: Is the story line that one were terrorist have a whack of nukes and they'll nuke the least paying country or something like that, or did I read that off a completely different thread.

Oh forgot!
For Sentinel's sheild, I gave him a robotic left arm to generate the shield.

Sounds good, Mike! Just remember that players will be equipping a variety of different weapons, so best not to build them in.

to test my tablet I drew over one of your guns, I'm surprised at how well it turned out (I suck at drawing in real life) :

Ha, I never saw that Document before, the Game Design Doc. Now new ideas are popping in my head which I'll sketch up now.

I've been trying to make a novel on this Idea, but haven't been too sucessful. So see if you like it:

My idea for the book was that a new race of humans, dubbed the Aryans, were created from all the mixing of nationallities, and because of this they had all the plus of every race and for some reason(that I hadn't come up with yet) none of the negatives. They were shuned and mutilated by pure blooded people and decided to start there own civilization on either a continent they made through science, or existing land they bought, wasn't sure yet. And they the story goes on about conflicts here and there, but that all fuzzy.

Now I visualize a lone island covered in the thick, chaotic brush of a jungle with marble stone buildings and copper orange windows perring above the the deep green trees.

Let me know if you like, eh?

Mike

Ok, I have a few concepts and I have come up with better designs for Sentinel, Vanishing Act and Anarchist (sorry B++). But I wont be able to post anything yet as my computer has gone kaput. I'll try to get them up as soon as possiable though.

@Mike:
Its ok. I m still fighting with BlackHawk. Just design the concept carefully, cos every model will be designed based upon this concept. Just make sure that we don't need to remodel a character or any other model again and again, while you design the concept. Other members will also share ideas to modify your concept as well.

@thenerd:
Can I use multitexture on a model?

@B++: I suppose multitexturing is fine, what is it for?

I've been trying to work on the design doc, me and dared both had a lot of school stuff so we couldn't finish it over the weekend. I'll try to finish it as early as possible.
one thing to think about is that the Sentinel, Vanishing Act and Anarchist were designed for multiplayer, and although in multiplayer they will be the main roles, in the single player campaign we will need to make a lot of other enemies besides those three to fill the game. Part of the design doc covered that, i'm hoping we can complete it before the end of january. I've been short on time between school stuff, the design, and making my level editor.

K, I got my computer up again.

What your seeing is a base character for each side with add-ons for the specific classes, which I originally thought was characters (My bad ).

I hope they're good.

I will draw the character concept in 2d and show you to finalize. Just one more thing, tell me about the dress color of the characters. Plain or camo.
@thenerd/BMacZero:
Just let me know, if you want the models. I m designing it very slowly. But I hv enough time. Just designing slowly

I'm not sure...didn't really think about it before. We could give the Terrorists solid and the Spec-ops camo to make it easy to tell sides apart maybe?

Also, i've attached a small concept art from paint(scanner's down )

yeah, the view button never shows on bitmap files, which is really annoying. I usually save as png, which has the good quality and small size.

good news, xarshi is almost done his physics system and I started programming the player movement and other verious stuff (just really putting it into functions, his plugin does most of the work).
also, I've made a little progress on the editor, I still need to finish a lot though...

If you read the newsletter, you'll see Lee's Tip of the Month regards a tool for open-source stuff called TortoiseSVN.

Tip

What do you guys think about trying this out? I'm playing around with it right now, it sounds promising.

I've got the full project up on GoogleCode through Tortoise now. I like it, it's going to make it so much easier to maintain an official copy of the code. You just right-click in your project folder, select the option to update the code from TortoiseSVN, modify it, then commit the changes and they are automatically applied to the online copy.

Check out the "How You Can Help" thread on DevStorm!

NaGaCreMo is over, and this project is ready to take off. Get coding!

PS: Everyone thank Lee for revolutionizing this project's workflow with his newsletter article on TortoiseSVN .

i'm really excited, this is really going to make this whole project easier and probably better...

There are a few things I'd like to figure out, though, such as if contributors can use their own accounts or if all changes show up as though I made them...

hm, jsut palying around with it there seems to be a odd thing where if I make a file, add it and commit it, and then delete it and refresh, the file gets deleted in the folder but in the repository view it stays, and files can olny actually be deleted via that view.

Yeah, SVN Update downloads the latest code from the server and updates your version, while SVN Commit puts your changes to the server .

yeah, now I know that.

i'm gonna add a demo of Xarshi's physics (incomplete), I want to see how people like it. just run physics_demo\levels\Application.exe...
wasd to move, f for flashlight,
Alt-F4 to exit, escape pauses.
I haven't gotten the tank to work yet...
sorry if it takes a little while to download.

Okay, thenerd, I think I've confirmed that you can actually use your Google account so all your changes don't show up as "mac0001". If you told Tortoise to save your info, you need to clear it in its Settings. Then when it prompts you, put in your gmail address and the password found at https://code.google.com/hosting/settings.
