We're working on some humble beginnings of a client/server system using Barnski's winsock plugin. I've made a simple chat system to test it out! Watch for the transitions between text as well as the alpha fading over time, both of which will be part of the final engine.

Of course! Anyone can help test if they want It might be a while before we have anything to test but do you have anywhere we could reach you other than the forums, for example MSN or Steam? Preferably something instant for easier coordination if there is a chance to test, but if you don't have an IM account we can still communicate over the forums

I subscribed to this thread a while back and the emails are getting annoying. How can I unsubscribe from new posts in this thread?

@DarkDISCUSSION,
Simply make a post and under the MailBack option for the post, there is a button saying "click here to disable it." Sorry for all the posts, hope you come back regardless

@L3mmy, Thanks, we will of course contact you as soon as there's something to test! There's definitely stuff to come.

I'd like to be able to test and offer advice wherever I can. Maybe help with some additional graphics content, documentation or create a "Quick Play" document when OFPS calls for one.

I've been out of the loop with DBPro but I finally have a system that will support it. (I lost my laptop earlier this year and a metric tonne of code... >_< )

I'd love to be able to assist with this, too, if I can. Just went through the design doc and think "Fat Man" might be better served for the 'q-bomb' instead of for a player class. It just sounds derogatory and someone could get offended. Maybe something like "Bruiser" or "Front Man" or "Lineman" (i.e. American Football). This would make more sense to me.

Anyway, you can contact me through Skype (aryu.limitless) or Steam (aryulimitless). I prefer Skype over Steam, as Steam's been wonky lately for me.

Thanks.

Hey guys, thanks for your interest... this thread could use some activity

@Anitarquious I:
That's great, I'll add you on Skype and Steam as soon as I get the chance. It's always great to at least have a list of people who are interested in helping with this. The main setback right now is just the fact that the current project leaders, miso and I, have very little time to code this time of year. However, even when coding progress is not being made, there can still be a flow of ideas. I assume you've read the whole design document and clearly there's a lot missing... One of the best contributions from people is their ideas... I'm not a creative type! If you want, feel free to add to the design document. We wrote it early on in the project, so we had no real vision of what we wanted to focus on. Parts that need work are the campaign plot, and the class abilities so that they are more consistant.

@MrValentine:
Thanks... Our projects are all hosted on Google code. We don't have one repository at this point because miso and I have been in the progress of combining all the code we've made over the years into one version. We've gone through many versions of the engine over the three years of this project, so we've had trouble keeping focus. hopefully we can get one united version of the game that makes it easy for others to contribute. If you're interested in looking at the main project, which is what the majority of this thread is working on, it's at http://code.google.com/p/openfps/. We have a new SVN at http://code.google.com/p/biostorm/, but that's a work in progres I've been busy with outside commitments, but I'm always brainstorming about how to better organize this project. We have tons of discussion, but progress is sometimes harder to come by

That said, both of you if you have any ideas or comments, post them I love seeing that people still have some level of interest in this project!
