well, right now you do need tortoisesvn to download it, I will try and upload a zip file but it might be too big, and having an svn tool installed is actually really useful, I use it for a number of projects, and I can't think of how I would do a project his big without it, svn is extremely helpful...

I'd be glad to do some music. I'm not that great with ambient sounds but I'm good at doing theme music. What kind of music do you want? I'm guessing the main theme will be epic military style?

Awesome, we need people for music, the main theme should be really dramatic military style music like you said, here's the music for our menu at the moment...

sorry for quadruple-posting, but I'm off on a vacation until september 4th, so I won't be able to code. I have a bunch of updates, but the server seems to be down so I cannot commit them.

Hi guys,

Man it's good to see everyone! I figured someone would have emailed me, or page me on msn. I been waiting for the word to start coding. lol

Man looks like everyone has been making progress great job guys!
Awesome job with the path finding BMacZero. Now your working like a team suppose to man.

So what does everyone have done right now, and what should we be working on?

ya, I meant to talk to you, but I went on vacation for most of summer and then sort of got wrapped up in coding...
I'm starting school now, which means that I'll likely only have time for coding on the weekends.
The level editor is going along well, that is the main thing miso and I were working on, as most of the game engine requires the editor. the second most important thing is that we code the networking aspects, so that we can get some servers running and an actual game! The menu is basically complete, so you should take a look at the svn to see all that we've done, I'm really proud of the menu.

Yeah, it's mostly been thenerd and miso, I'm going to try to maintain the pathfinding when they get into the game engine but I've got other stuff going on as well.

ok,awesome! First thing is, you should go to http://code.google.com/p/openfps/ and follow those instructions to get the svn. then, just take a look at the code to see what we have done, and then you can decide what module you'd want to work on...
also, do you have msn?

Hi guys,

How is it going. I'm helping out thenerd, and miso with the editor some. I made a level saver, and level loader that includes the positions, rotations, and texture data, and that supports for now a 1000 objects that it writes to a file. You can change the 1000 number to make it higher. However it depends on how the game is going to scale, so we can change it to the scale when we figure that out. So now we can load a whole level up after we save it.
I made this very fast to help us get ball rolling. So we can work on level designs, and the fun stuff!

Hey, it's been awhile. I've been in school for around a month and I have been so busy with work (and Halo lol) that I haven't even opened DarkBasic Pro. To be quite honest, I have no idea when I can work on this again, but at the VERY latest, it will be after Christmas. I will try and work on it some, but I apologize if it takes me awhile. Good work so far though and keep it up!

Ok, so just a little check-in in case anyone was wondering what's going on... Miso and I have been hard at work on the editor, we added entity placement and I'm working on integrating darkvee's save system.
Progress Screenshot:

This shows the placement of player start entities.

Ok, I've gotten back to this project, and a lot's changed. We're rearranging most of the modules, so although the code is still the same, the layout will be a lot easier to understand for beginners. Once miso and I finish that, I'm going to try and recruit more team members so that we can make some more progress.

Also, remember Blackout?

Guys, if you need a good Quality Assurance tester, I'm in! I don't have time to submit and help code the project hence my day job drains the life out of me, but I can help out with Quality Assurance. I'd be happy to help out creating some checklists for the game, doing memory and stress tests on the game.

Cool, nice to have another person actively working. Right now the code doesn't run, but I'm working on rearranging to be easier for newcomers to understand. After I finish with that, I'm going to try and get more people involved so we can really make some progress. The level editor is almost usable.

@JRH, nice start to the website... When I'm home I'll check out the stuff you uploaded.

@Zapakitul, that'd be great!

@thenerd - I created a dummy .png file and got the game running (at least till the main menu, haven't actually entered in the Action Phase).

Well, glad to know I can be of assistance. If you need to contact me, you can reach me through the email I supplied on the forums. It's a dummy one that I use in order to avoid spam on my main one.

I've also had a look over the editor source code as it stands. Spotted a few places for easy improvement.

Okay. I was working on said items for you when UV mapper decided to go wonky. So I've given up :/ I may return to texture it later when I can be bothered with the hassle. Meanwhile, I've thrown it onto the SVN.

Ok, cool!

[EDIT] I had this awesome idea, to have a level on an oil rig... the crane model will work in that level as well as the warehouse level I'm currently working on.

Here's a screenshot of the warehouse, doesn't show much, but I just started.

I'll have a go at your crane, thenerd, I still need some work on my texturing . What kind of detail are you looking for? Like "off in the distance" or "player can climb all over this"?

Thanks! The player will not be able to access it, so it doesn't have to have a very high amount of detail.

@My games are free, just wondering, what was your original message before you edited it?

@Darkvee:

I've been working on the multiplayer components and the game engine, but hopefully soon. i'm thinking of buying blitzterrain for the real-time terrain modification, that would be a nice feature for the editor. The editor also has the capability to import levels from other software, so indoor levels can more easily be created. If someone wants to use a different modeler to create a level, they can and then import it seamlessly. The level editor will focus more on outdoor terrain and scenery, as that is what the majority of the game will be centered around.
