Ok no offesense at all. And i think you are all doing very nice jobs.

But.. BUYING????!?!?! I never like that idea. Not even in COD not even from Kravenwofl. And not from you. It just toooo unrealistic, and actualy it doesnt add a piece of... to the gameplay or to the feel. I mean... buy a area??? buy a weapon during killing zombies.

>Zombie: Hello, what can i do for you?
> You: I would like to buy a AK please.
>Zombie: Sure buddy. that will be 500 bucks mate.
> You: It is ok. I must say you guys are more expensive every day.
>Zombie: It is how life goes. We have to make money mate, it is a hard world out there.
> You: Yeah true.
>Zombie: Hey WHAT THE Heck,i am a freaking zombie, i supose to kill yah. GGRGRGAGRGGRGA. Damn you killed me. Now you cant buy weapons.
> You: No problemo mate. I can buy weapons from walls. Sometimes they are given out for free. Because scripts dont work.

Get my point?

Anyway,

All other things are cool. Keep that up.

And that all was IMO.

well, i agree, but not having buying means that the player has nothing to strive for, making the game boring and tedious, but if the player has something to strive for, and objective other than to kill zombies, that makes it better.

You dont really have money, its more points. But having weapons on the wall which you dont buy, but... unlock in exchange for points, makes the game much more interesting.

i only sort of "pretend" it's money, and remmember, zombie survival games aren't supposed to be realistic, are they? they're more about fun.
in fact, i'd be quite bored by a realistic zombie survival game.

Well i would like to experience a paranormal event. By going outside in front of my house, and kill the hell out of a couple awesome realistic zombies.

Anyway. Yeah i supposes it is all about fun.

yeah, but seriously, would you want to play a gme that is just you in a room doing nothing but shooting zombies until your ammo runs out? then you die?

adding points, barriers, doors, semi-objectives spices up the game, leading for a better playing experience.

Ever played Doom3?

It is a bit like:

Quote: "play a gme that is just you in a room doing nothing but shooting zombies until your ammo runs out"

Does alot of people liked it to play?

Yes.

Do i want to replay?

No.

Why?

There are thousends of zombie games i can play.

Anyway
Good job on all the other things mate. I just said i didnt liked the buying/point idea. Thats all.

doom 3 is nothing like that! doom 3 is immersive, atmospheric, HAS ENTIRE LEVELS AND AREAS, multiple enemies, MORE AMMO, storyline.

what i was describing was you, in A ROOM, for no apparent reason, just shooting zombies until you runout of ammo.

anyways, back to the point, me and arenas are currently ironing out bugs in our scripts, you know, the usual, huds not going, that kind of thing.

map progression is going well, for more up-to-date news on that visit the W.I.P thread.

Wow, ammo and levels, you'd almost think that was a unique feature...

My maps are going fine. Just waiting for a bug free run of the weapons, doors and barriors. I'm running a test level now. I'll post the results on after I've run the test.

Test 1 Results:

Door $750 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Door $1000 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Barrior $750 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Barrior $1000 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail

G36C - Huds:fail, Pick Up:fail
P90 - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
870P1 - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
Ak-47 - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
Granade - Huds:fail, Pick Up:fail
M29A - Huds:fail, Pick Up:fail

I have no idea why the Pick Ups for the working models dont work. They effectively run these commands:

It runs the show hud (Picked Up Item), the amount, the decrease in amount of money, but you dont actually pick up the weapon... It should work perfectly... Any idea whats wrong anyone?

For all weapons the hud showing insufficient funds works, but the one asking to buy the weapon doesnt. I just need to identify the differences in the huds for a successful hud on ALL weapons. Im not too bothered about the doors and barriors because shadowfire says he has the barriors and doors working fine.

Test 2 Results:

Door $750 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Door $1000 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Barrior $750 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Barrior $1000 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail

G36C - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
P90 - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
870P1 - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
Ak-47 - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
Granade - Huds:work, Pick Up:fail
M29A - Huds: work, Pick Up:fail

Im going to compare the weapon.fpi script with the weapon scripts here and hopefully find a solution. Third test result comming soon.

Test 2 Results:

Door $750 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Door $1000 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Barrior $750 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail
Barrior $1000 - Huds:fail, Activate:fail

G36C - Huds: work, Pick Up: work
P90 - Huds: work, Pick Up: work
870P1 - Huds: work, Pick Up: work
Ak-47 - Huds: work, Pick Up: work
Granade - Huds: work, Pick Up: work
M29A - Huds: work, Pick Up: work

I have no idea. Truth be told i used the same code practically as the weapon pickup normally for the weapons:

870P1, Ak-47, P90

But when i set up the others with it it all crashed and nothing worked...

I honestly never got the whole "Buy your way through the area" concept... I mean, are we bribing god to take down a barrier for us -- with points? What kind of points are these anyway? Karma?

Here's a better idea... keep the "points" hidden from the player. When they get enough points, a propane explosion triggers nearby opening a way to get behind the building, whereupon entering, there's (who guessed it?) more zombies!

I thought the whole idea to a zombie survival game was to use your brain to..... well, survive zombies. Running out into the masses of zombies, low on ammo, guns a blazin', doesn't seem like a very good use of your intellect to me.

Well we can have triggers like that after a cirtain amount of waves an explosion opens a hole in the wall/door opens. Were gonna need to keep money for purchasing weapons though...

I agree. Only problem is that we dont have any animations for zombies like that . The animation i'd love for zombies are:

Step over sand bag,
Break open door,
Running,
Crawling,

But no-one can do them any ideas who could?

Anyway, im just adding detail to my level now. Weapons set up, doors in place, waves (only work with ply's mod) being added.

No, it doesnt work like that at all! This is what happens each level. I have added in a wave script (only works in ply's mod). What happens. You fight a wave of zombies (wave 1 - 5). There is then a five hundred milisecond break (5 seconds i think) before any zombies spawn. By the time the level has ended to the time the zombies spawn and enter the battlefield, you have had enough time to buy any weapon you have the money for. The amount of zombies in the next wave then increases by 5 and it loops like that (weapons getting more advanced, destructive and having larger ammo clips).

I think people should stop flaming them and let them do what they want with their software... I mean that is the whole point of FPSC, to make your own games. There is no set of rules or guidelines you must follow when making a game. Just as long as you enjoy yourself while you're at it and you enjoy the end product. If you disagree with what they're doing then the simple solution is to stop playing the zombie games you're so tired of seeing and just leave this thread alone. [/rant]

Sorry guys I wasn't meaning any offense to anyone and I'm not pointing fingers, you're all great but thats my two cents. Those screens look awesome shadowfire! I love those last two!! Congratulations on finally working out the wave spawning Good luck guys.

That's what I like, Nazi Zombies offsets the REALISM! I WANT REALISM!! that the campaign and multiplayer seem to have...

I don't think you're going to find too much realism in a zombie game.

EDIT: But who wants realism, anyway? I would rather be killing zombies with Chris Redfield than playing the back 9 with Tiger Woods

Please don't say "Nazi Zombies"... it's too unoriginal now. Come up with something more original. It's easy, watch:

Robot Pirate Ghost Zombies from Space!! God has unleashed his wrath upon the universe, turning people into robot pirate ghost zombies and leaving a few people to test their mettle. To move further through the game, you must appease god by defeating the hordes of technological, swashbuckling undead earning karma points! When you collect enough karma, god will open the way forward for you! You may also trade your karma points with god for various weapons of divine punishment!

There, it's stupid, but it's original. It's also scifi-horror!

please don't ask me, arenas has been doing something with knxrb and he won't tell me what it is! (humph)

anyways, what do you guys think of two different versions of the mod?
one (might) be free, which will include basic scripts, huds, tutorials, so everything you need for a basic zombie survival game.

the other version will include arenas' secret stuff, (i didn't say that) and a lot of more advanced stuff for you to try out.

I had to promise Knxrb i wouldnt tell, dont get angry at me I'll tell you more as i can now say shadowfire.

Heres the downside 'The Special' version (not got an official name yet) will be priced at £16 - £17. It will however include a special, extra gory version of Horror mod, and new weapons which are only possible on this version of Horror Mod. I will make a proper anouncement tomorrow of what it includes. Hopefully we will sort out the newly arisen spawning problem I have had (special script) and then the basis for both mods is complete.
