working on the bones, the top part of the skull is done and im moving onto the jaw and teeth. After that comes the very fun spine lol. hopefully i didnt overdo it again on this project but it seems like such a cool idea

Edit: here it is with the jaw and what i think wil be the scythe, now to tackle the spine. so far i dont think i will need Zbrush for this. for referance i will use this tutorial to wrap the spine around the shaft, i unless there is some ugly deformation then i might just might rig it with bones and try that.

If i did it once i can do it again (Do you see what i see Sept 09)

Just a small update on what I'm working on. It's based a little on a Bleach character but I intend to make him much scarier.

dragon doesn't 3ds max support spline?

yeah max does support splines and thats sort of what the one link plays into, but my worry is that it might warp the bone to much if thats what happens ill make a chain of bones (riging bones) and link all of the vertebre to a bone and then manually wrap them. im also thinking of adding a fire that connects all of the spine instead of disks or cartillage (think like Renji's Bankai[bleach] closest i could find)

If i did it once i can do it again (Do you see what i see Sept 09)

that would be pretty cool. im thinking if having some flaming parts on my grim reaper but i got to finish it first. and yea bones would probably work better for accuracy..probably much more annoying, but would work better.

Here is a little bit of something I did for this. I am pretty unhappy with it, probably because I haven't been doing 3D for most of this year. We need a 2D competition!!

Crits would be great.

haha...... you guys thought i was just gonna make a simple pumpkin. WRONG!

may i introduce STEEL WARRIOR 3000!!!

A man banished to a world of lava with only a sheet of metal to protect him that got melted into a human form using the mans body as it's controller and the lava as it's power. now, every halloween, he comes to are world to get revenge! MUHAHAHA!!!!!

cool huh? im making a turning animation (just rotaters 360 degrees) to show he is full 3d it's still rendering

EDIT: forgot to say, the bit that looks messed up on top of his head is suppost to be like that. lava dosn't melt things into perfect shape.

i was thinking of putting a ruby in the gap above his head.

I've decided to cut back on my former idea. Now, I'm just going to make the most detailed severed head that I can. That resolves the potential problem with the implied cannibalism, I guess.

Well I am joining late again lol

Currently i started work on a new model for fun now its escalated so it will be used as a portfolio piece. Its current poly count is at 344, and here is a screen of it in max.

The reason for the change of heart was the idea of a little animation practise, then i wanted to create it as a teaser for the species, Avian. So i completly storyboarded the whole idea and its going to be less than 20 sec's long, but will give alot of hints into the chracter's'.

Iam doing this as a favour for Kirla so i wont be getting paid but oh well lol.

I only started yesterday but am sure i can make this bugger a little more scarier.

The chracter ref am using is kirla's Oc.

Well, I was actually able to get a semi-decent walking loop done for my creature. Hope I can submit a youtube clip as my entry.

It can be found here

If not, then I will post a beauty shot instead.

Edit: This is my final entry.

Forgot I had to put that in for it to count

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s8/azuanki/3D%20models/GrimReaperBackSide.jpg

(the image didn't display so i put a direct link up)

i had to fix a large amount of loops... but in the end i think the model itself turned out fairly well.(considering its one of the first models in the last 2-3 months that ive made...) i plan on finishing this up in the coming weeks and putting it on my models page to download(with or without a texture not decided)

the download is for C4D. as the .3ds exporter that cinema has seperates the points and i felt made it look terrible. so if you are able to open it im glad if not, no worries.

im probably going to take the bumps/spines/whatever you call them, off the spine because they are a little to detailed to look good compositionally.

Ughhh, Massive schoolwork limited me from texturing this thing in time, ah well I'll just enter it this way. Don't really care either way.
High Poly AO render:

Low poly with baked normal map:

The low poly is running at something like 3500 triangles.
