Looks pretty good! But if you want to go further within 3D making you should get a more serious software. Blender and Milkshape are two of the better ones. I use Milkshape for my stuff.

#Yawn# Out of coffee n_____n"

Sleepy sleepy sleepy,
Hmm...

Very nice models so far. Great job on the colt, but the uzi looks very thin. For a start into modeling i'd say your on the right track, keep up the practising and am sure youll make great progress.

Ohh and a tip, reference as much as possible. you obviously have here, but try finding different variations, different angles so you build up a good idea on all the edges.

As recommended already, try using a more advanced program such as milkshape or blender if you have the patience. Dont think about gettting max anytime soon, its out of most first time users' grasp, not to mention the pricing.

Google around or look at the graphics resource for tutorials on anything to everything. It'll take a while to settle properly with all the functions of programs like blender compared to that of milkshape but is well worth the effort.

Look forward to seeing you around more,

-Con

i use 3ds max 2009 for modeling & ps/cs2 for my textures.
just remember its the modeler that makes good models not the software, you dont need to spend a fortune on 3d software.

henrys top tips

pick your 3d software & stick with it

learn it inside out

start simple ,dont try to run before you can walk ( boxs ,crates & barrels )

after you have made a few simple models learn to uvw map then texture your models, keep at it till your really happy with them before you move onto more complex models.

you dont see many finished models on this site (model & texture)i think this is because most people want to wow the forum with a high poly model, but they never finish them because the havent learnt the basics of uv layout & textureing.

Firstly i highly advise you not to buy max right off the bat, wait a year, make sure you actaully want to further this and its not fleeting joy. Belive me, mistakes like that are very costly.

And i will also recommend researching and viweing all available packages.

Max is not the only industrial standard program, Thier is also Maya, and blender if you will.

Learn to walk before you try to run.

Other than that nice snowman,

You just had a copy of Max lying there?
I think Blender got too many functions, mostly becuase its more than just a 3D software. It renders, makes games etc.

I got a tutorial on Milkshape somewere, look in my posts and see if you find it.

Well, at least you shouldn't get 2010 before you at least got the hang about the basics in 2009.

A lovly fee of 500-2k upgrades fee.

i already paid off most of my dept to the ict dep' i dont need the upgrade, not for that price.

So i will say you wouldnt need it ethier.

Dont get me wrong thier is a few bug fixes, new poly selcetion tools' the same as the edge selection, grow, loop, ring ect, the rigging system has a little improvment but nothing too noticable for the average modeler.
