Depends on the other media in the game. If the other models look moderately high poly, then go with the 16, and if the others are low poly (like a ps2 game), then go with 12. OR, make both on the same UV textures, then you could make LOD stages for the model.

Well, I wanted to have LOD stages ( but like only 2, one with 16 sides and one with 12 ) But it is for a PC and I was aiming around DAO standards ( I believe its high poly...ish ). So I think I will go with the 16 sided shield.

Edit: Damn it, turning 16 into 12 is like the hardest thing possible
