is there anyway to make a different interface for modeling software?
Like blender, or what i use is Anim8or.
The reason i ask is because that is the only reason i turn away from blender. The interface. It's just to steep of a learning curve (though some say very rewarding). If i could program a new interface i would use it.
And i can do C++ but im terrible. My main language is DbPro.
And could you point me in the right direction for doing this.

Blender's a lot easier and faster to use if you learn the hotkeys for it. It saves a lot time pressing S to scale, R to rotate, G to grab; than having to search for each button every time you want to change a single face. I use Blender all of the time, and rarely navigate through it's clickable toolbars when I'm working with a mesh.

EDIT: Hotkeys--

that's what i like about cinema 4D (which btw cinema 4D has a never ending demo that has all the basic modeling and animation tools) it has a very simple interface with a large amount of tools.

I think 3DS MAX 2010 is the best interface, and it's really easy to learn! But the only problem is the price, but it's worth it!

for an independent modeler MAX is not worth the full price.
i will try to learn blender, but it will be hard, because it's easy for and experienced blender user to say, oh it's easy just use hot keys, when they've been using it for a few months or years.
i have looked at the cinema 4d website before, but i didnt download the trial, and you say it's neverending, but what features do you miss out on?

And i know i sound crazy but for me, anything over $200 is not worth it for an independent modeler, but if you do freelance maybe.

cinema 4D has modules that the demo doesn't include. you can look at them at their site through the products page. i also don't believe it comes with body paint. the modules are quite impressive but mainly for animation. (plus cinema 4D has a coding language that works with it called coffee(probably wrong)

Well, I started with blender, and you just need to create a cube, use all the keys on your keyboard and check out what they do. Thats how I learned it.

Yep, and it's just as easy for someone whose never used it to say that it's hard. Anything will seem "hard" if you don't know the first thing about it. But that's why you've got to take the time to learn it. I see so many people (not nessacarily on these forums) pass over Blender just because they open it for the first time, and then say; "this is too hard, I need to go out and spend $3,000 on Max. Since it costs so much, it must mean that I'll automatically be a pro at it once I buy it." But that's not the case. Max is just as "hard" as Blender, if you don't know the first thing about it.

I'm not trying to insult you or anything, and granted you won't learn Blender in a day. When I first started using it, I didn't know what I was doing either. Though, I was also using Max (trial) for the first time, and didn't know what I was doing with it just the same. So, after a month or so of working with Blender and getting used to it's interface and its hotkeys, I got the hang of it, and now I have a very effective modeling program, and an extra $3,000 in my bank account. But, good luck with whatever program you chose to go with.

@kravenwolf

i understand blender is very capable,
(i have it dloaded)
i just like to have a toolbar with all the tools,, hence toolbar.
In blender you basically HAVE to know the shortcuts.
like, i use anim8or and all i need to know is where my mouse is.
and maybe 4-5 shortcuts for effective modeling.
D- box selection
M- move
N- non uniform scale
S- scale
F(eye mode)- fit to frame
and
shift + e to extrude.
otherwise all the stuff i need to do is in the toolbar.

The only reason i dont like anim8or is because it is limited in that it
A. cant sculpt (useful) - which blender has
B. cant paint directly
C. UV tools are confusing
D. It has bad polygon management tools (merge face is pretty good though)

The main blender hotkeys aren't much differnt:
box selection is B
move is G for grab
scale is the same S
extrude is just E
rotate is R
duplicate is D
notice all the hotkeys are just same as the first letter of the command? Its all very logical.

spacebar brings up a very useful menu at the cursor location for everything from adding objects, selecting, and editing meshes.

W brings up another very useful menu for special editing commands.

All that is really no more hotkeying than you already use.

2.5 changed the way spacebar works which I'm not real happy about but I believe you can customize any key to do any action with the python scripting. I havn't really looked into it yet.

i believe that u would have to use python to script it. since blender = written in python (or?) or atleast uses it for scripts. ^^ dont worry, python is a great language! my cousin uses it for our game ->http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=162700&b=2<- ^^ good luck

In the new version of Blender, the whole interface has been revised for easy use. I for one don't like it and think it's very confusing, it's probably because I'm used to work with the old interface.

But I have to agree with Kraven here, Blender is not hard to learn, if you really want to start modelling then you should really be prepared for what it'll cost you. Nothing in this world is free. Even if it'll take you a month to learn Blender, you will find the knowledge very useful for years to come.

I'm not bashing you, I'm just defending Blender.
