Just thought I'd get some feedback as I don't know how to make improvements at this stage. I'm not trying to show off my work (as it is very crappy).

I decided to start randomly modeling Modernday guns after seeing a few at a weapons store. I find that guns are very good modeling practise and are also very fun to model.

Anyways, I'll start off with a list of what I've started, want to start, or completed.

Rifles:
> SCAR-H >> Model nearing completion, UV Map complete, working on texture
> SIG SG 550 >> Model nearing completion, UVMapping
> FN-FAL >> Not started

Pistols:
> HK USP .45 (maybe I'll add my free silencer on to it) >> Not started.

TANKS!
> What tank do you think I should do?

Alrighty then, here's the SIG SG 550 which is one of my favourite guns. I don't know why, it just appeals to me so much. When I see it at stores, I shiver.

Wireframe (about 1200 polys) -

Here's the SCAR.

And the Wireframe (almost 1900 polys - ouch!) -

I have no intent to rig these or use them for any project. I've already rigged a CRAPload of weapons (check my 'EAI Replacements' thread).

So, comments are a must, please be as harsh as possible with your criticism - by this I don't mean "omgz that sux lol i could do better". I mean really think about what I could improve and be very picky.

Thanks

Anyone? I'm planning on making a FN-FAL next. I also just realised I messed up the frontal ironsights on the SIG so I've yet to fix that.

I also plan on doing tanks as they're considered to be weaponry, right?

And c'mon guys, I really need criticism.

J/K. I personally don't spend much time modeling guns, and I don't really shoot them either so I can't critique them on how well they match the actual gun, but I think they are really nicely made. I can see a spot or two where polys could possibly(emphasis on possibly) be reduced, but I think the poly count is quite safe for both models if they were to be used in-game. And if I were you, I would texture/rig them and sell them! I'm sure others would be glad to use them in-game.

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.

The stock. Yes, I think so too. I'm trying to model this as if it were to go into first person, and you don't see the very end of the stock much. Therefore, I was thinking of taking it off.

@Mike, thanks! I wanted to model it because I thought of how I could model every detail (definitely will be at least 3000 polys).

Updating the list above, thanks guys.

Whew! That SCAR's UV took forever! And it's crap! Oh, well, I'll have to texture it tomorrow.

I still have to sort a few things out, but how did I do? That was my first 'complicated' weapon UVMap. I've mapped them before but in a very cheap way

Thanks,
