Gah stop using DA lol!

use photobucket, people get frisky when you constantly upload stuff to thier and then out soucre, tis why photobucket was made, its also alows you to view the images without loading up seperate pages its also quicker

annnnd smoothing groups. heres the easy version with a quick demo,

Without;

With;

It tells maya how light should bend around a object, different smoothing groups interact differently with others. Allowing the creation of harsh lines or fake definition on models.

effect 1

effect 2

Summed up it tells how light reflects off an object. knowing top bottom left/right and other geeneral aspects of a model then you can sort out the groups, though it dose get a little more complicated than that. If you want a definition line say like a chamfer,

you place each of the three polies that make the cahmfer into seperate smooting groups to creat the harsh lines of clean breaks. Now if your working in low poly or just generally mess it ypp you can get effects like this, if you put them all in one smoothing group.

That concludes the image spam and tutorial. Though i still have no idea how maya works so i reccomend you reasearch it or ask someone who uses it.

i think alucard is a maya user right?

Search for some uv mapping tutorials. There's alot out there, A simple search on google should return lots.

After that it's just a matter of making the textures
If you can't make the textures feel free to use mine

As for the human, if you're going for a cartoonesque style, it's not bad

For realism, there are some major anatomy and proportion problems. To start, generally the upper arms and shoulders should be more bulky and muscular than the forearms, the knees shouldn't pull in so drastically, and you're missing a finger on the hands.

What are your systems specs?

You could try exporting the can then importing it into a new file.
