I am curious if anyone knows where I could get it (used would be ok) for under $500.00

Any help would be appreciated.

And I am NOT wanting a student license, I want a full one.

Cheers,

I'm not really 100% on this as I can't be arsed to go through all the licence agreement to find out whether i'm right or not, but i don't think you can resell a licence once you have bought it. Don't take me on it but have a quick browse around google to confirm if you can find anything on it.

The only limits on the student one are that you can't make any profit from the use of a student licence, is this the reason you aren't willing to get a student licence?

Thats just stupid

Try using blender for a while first or another program listed in the great graphic resource. Im pretty sure unless you get a student license you will not get max for under £500

An earlier version maybe? but 9-10 are still very expensive and this might just be a passing interest.

The student versions have no real difference as far as i know and if the renders are water makred, install the trial of max and render them. Cant see thier being anything wrong with that approach.

But yeah i cant see it happening.

I am not sure if the scheme is for a full licence or not, but if you are still in high school, or college i think, you can apply for a scheme which lets you use all Autodesk software for free.

Will try and find a link.

You could use the student version, if im correct it lasts 13 months, but im not sure if you can use it for commercial modelling.

But, as Asteric said, there is a scheme for students studying particular projects where you get all of their software (adobe also do this). Have a search for it

its good to see that you are willing to buy the software, most people on here just download it then claim that they have bought it

i paid full price for my copy of max 8 but my latest version max 2009 i got off ebay unopened & unregistered for just £150 (it took me about 6 months of watching ebay before it came on )so they are out there.

be careful as Oolite says once a copy has been registered it canot be sold on so make sure of this first as i saw a few copys sold on ebay for good money.also dont buy a copy with a short licence period the full version lasts forever.

cheers henry

Thats the reason
I've made around $350.00 off models from wings 3d\blender and I'm ready for something more professional.

I dont want studen also because i'm not in college yet.

Yeah you'd be surprised how apparently illegal some of the Max's they were trying to sell were.
A lot of them said in the desc that he'd send you a download link

Thanks guys!

O.k. I'll look into 8 but I would prefer 9\10 unless I got 8 dirt cheap

I still use version 3.5 sometimes for the fun of it. Though seriously, there are a lot of free 3d programs out there that are just as powerful as Max. Max is a waist of money unless your industry or are a freelance that can makeup the cost with sales.

The only version of Max that should be sold is the current one, Autodesk do not sell older versions which I think is a shame.
To be honest there is very little you can not do in Blender than what you can do in Max, and I am a Max and Maya user. If you want to be a professional modeller in the future I would suggest the buying a student license, it is essentially a full version of the program and more than adequate for building your portfolio and let your future employer take the hit of buying you a license, even then there is a good chance the studio uses a different package to what you know anyway and you will have to learn all over again.

3dsmax is worth getting for: millions of tutorials, huge support by pro's,amazing rendering engine and unlimited functions since you can use maxscript to write your own scripts.

you can resell the lisence strait back to the reseller, you can also borrow any lisence within 3ds max. you can buy used lisences chaper from resellers. chaper then $500 thease days if you look around, call around and make a deal.

lets see blender can also do that unless im mistaken.

cinema 4D a remarkably cheaper option to max (not as many game related tutorials but ive been able to follow a lot of max tutorials in C4D) C4D has a scripting languge in it called coffee. and it has a drag and drop interface that can make animating(not for games) simple. its called xpresso. you can drag objects into it and then connect them using certain commands like find the XY location then have that connect to the distance of a spring. which you would then only need to change one thing to animate the whole model.

plus C4D has a never ending demo which has all of the modeling options, but the demo wont have any of the modules.

and im not really sure on what you can use the demo for i doubt you can use it commercially.

Actually it will

Which most of them are illegal, and apparently so

"

I have blender and hate it

I have tried the trial of Max and love it.

You could say you thought it was legal

But seriously, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3DS-MAX-2010-MAYA-2010-ENTERTAINMENT-CREATION-2010_W0QQitemZ130375468072QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Software_Software_SR?hash=item1e5afbc428 You'll have to check if it's legal.

They both have lots of autodesk software, Not just MAX

I think those are both for students. They both say education suite on the actual cover in the picture. I was about to buy one since they said they come with mudbox, maya 2010, and 3ds max 2010. I'm ready to upgrade from 3ds max 8, but don't want to spend the money for features I probably wouldn't use.

I also noticed
Licence Details: Retail Single (on one)
Licence Details: Media Only (on the other)

What would this mean exactly? Just curious.
