Yes I know it's another WIP thread but I just bought DarkLights and DarkClouds to start work on this (as well as my other projects) and I wanted to start a thread as I always get lots of good ideas early on (when it counts!)...

It's a model viewer primarily for 3DS but will also support Dbo and X. The idea is you can set up scenes using the editor (shown) then fire up a fullscreen viewer to really show your model off.

We were going to write something like this at a place I used to work before but never got round to it. I wanted to have a go to help learn DarkLights and DarkClouds at the same time as writing a fun/easy to use viewer/lightmapper.

I see it being used to display models (IE. from sketchup) of architectural / product design projects.

Here are a couple of early screenies:

@bergice, Menu options so far:
File
-Open Project [not working yet]
-Save Project [not working yet]
-Import [3DS/DBO/X]
-Exit
Edit
-Edit Material [Smoothing only so far]
Scene
-Sky
--Add/Remove [Add/Remove DarkCLOUDS]
--Edit Time [Edit time of day]
--Edit Ground [Edit ground height]
-White Room
--Add/Remove [Add/Remove white 'showroom']
--Edit Ground [Edit ground height]
Lighting
-Create Lightmaps [self explanatory]
-Automatic Lights [the only option at the moment as I've yet to add in manual lighting...]

At the moment the scene scales to the size of the imported model so you don't need to worry about the model you are importing as the scene and lightmaps work out according to the size of the model.

Here is the current version (attached) please let me know what you think and any bugs you find...

This is pretty good! Will you add the ability to cycle threw limbs too?

The Pokemon Engine is still alive.

I'm thinking this will be a very basic point and click type affair with a few extras but I'll be adding that sort of stuff to my level editor "ID8" in the near future...

Odd, maybe your graphics card can't do DarkClouds? How big was the model you tried to import as some large models seem to take forever using DBP...?
