It looks to high poly for what it is. But the mesh is nice! I like how you've got an interior aswell

Some missile racks on the side would look sweet and help break up the flatness of it...

Possibly a turret underneath the nose as well?

Where are you getting your reference from? It looks nothing like a Blackhawk, IMO.

You're at a good start, but it's far from complete; I would have worked on it more before showing it. The front is awfully high poly for what's actually there, you can easily knock it down a bunch. Also, the shape of the front doesn't look like that of a blackhawk helicopter; it looked much better in the first 2 pictures.

I'd suggest using actual reference pictures and then compare your model to the image. Look at the differences and all the little details and then see how you can add them to your model.

Here's a picture at a similar angle to the last shot. The Google will of course provide you with many more

There is a buketload of un-needed polygons on there, also like quick said, dont use a smooth modifier on the model, you are still just drafting out the shape. I would grab a side-view shot of the black hawk and compare your models silhouette to that of the images and make ameds based on that.

LOL; didn't mean to come of harsh. I've ridden in Blackhawks before; my Aviation Unit had Blackhawks and Kiawa Warriors.

hi man , i have something you might like
actually , i think everyone in this forum will like it .
i'll post it here , and i'll post it on the main page.

i dont want to sound like an ass , but i think you should watch some blackhawk videos , some images , you see a BlackHawk is more rounded , it gives you the feeling , oh hi theres a chuby bird in the sky..
cause its kind of fat.. with that said , it does give you a vibe of a buetiful black lady cause its just a perfect helicopter...

after checking my self.. ok
there are several kind of blackhawks..
i know the infantry transporter, but it seams that the actuall name is not blackhawk.. blackhawk is just the family name from its designers..
so there are several kinds of blackhawks..
but i guess you tried to make the transporter.. if not , my bad.

well enough with the emotions.. damn im sitting on blender too much :*(

ok , here is what i wanted to post, check out this site it helped me alot when i first started modeling, you must check it, its just an awesome website (and its free )

Helicopters are damn tricky to make, mostly due to the concept drawings that are left to work by.

I would go and buy an airfix model, just a little thing for a few bucks, then you get some amazing concept references in the model plans, plus a model of the copter itself.

A pro making a model of a helicopter will not go on plan drawings alone, because there is not enough shown, even though the plan drawings posted there are pretty good - its nothing compared to having a model in front of you. For instance, if I was making a gun model, I'd go and get a model of the gun first - a cheap BB gun version for instance is ideal, esp if it's full size. The last gun model I made I used a full size BB version and a pair of digital calipers (micrometer), these are usually about £12 for a metal set - but it allows for unthinkable accuracy and detail. This also allows you to get a feel for the item, how it flies, how it shoots, how it moves.

No model is free, and every model is worth something, depending on how good it is. Even if it's for practice, practice the right techniques - if you don't want to buy a model of what you want to make, and don't have an effective way of measuring it - then go and find something that you can measure and model with no burdons. Drawings and photographs are handy, but they can seldom be your only source of info. BB guns are cheap, little airfix models are cheap, and they are about 50 times more accurate and useful than concept art. If you consider how long you spend trying to work things out, spending a couple of bucks makes a lot of sense.

Id agree with Van on this one. Of the few times Ive modeled something with the aid of a physical model in my hands to look at, its always come out extremely accurate in proportion.

I'd love to, but I'm practically broke. I did do that though awhile back when I was more of an amateur, with some ww2 airplanes.
Even though I was an amateur they turned out pretty darn nice
