Hey all,

I'm planning to make a mafia type of game. I wanted a huge mansion for my character so I decided to make it by myself. I bet most of you have played GTA Vice City. Well at least I used to play it, and it kind of inspired me. I really liked the huge mansion so I decided to model it, not 100% the same though, because it would get too high poly. Does anybody know things/details I could add to the model? Anyway, this is what I've got so far:

I'm going to add some more details like balustrades. Anyway, tell me what you think, C&C is always welcome.

I still remember me getting into the mansion and killing that guy, then the mansion was yours
Great model, looking forward to see it with textures

I think you should make the steps a little smaller, and add a few more. They look way too large for a house of that size. Try to make some parts less 'pointy' it adds more definition (unless this is for FPSC)

@jeffhuys: Thanks

@shaun of the dead: you're right about the steps. But the model is for fpsc so I want to keep the polycount below 4000. It's about 3.3k atm.

@GJ: no buddy, the black part on the stairs is because of the angle

Uhmm shaun if you didn't notice yet, the model has arches on the front, sides and back. and on the first floor the arches have extra detail added.

I think you should let the polycount go up a little. The back looks very... It has a lack of detail.

@mike5424: Oh but that's the reason why this is still a wip my friend. I'm going to add some doors and windows at the back. I'm currently fixing the stairs

@GameRetardo, dont get snappy with mike. He is giving you critisism. If you havent noticed, on EVERY model thread a wireframe is asked for, because we want to see if there are any stupidly large amounts of un needed polys.

From what i see, your arches have too many polys at the top. There isnt a need for such a large amount when 5-6 around the arcdhway would be sufficent.

@shaun of the dead: I'm not getting snappy, I just said it wasn't finished yet, so I knew it wasn't detailed enough. And besides from that, I don't know why I would get snappy, I thought my reply was rather friendly? Anyway, you're right about the wireframe and stuff, but how do you mean that the arches are to high poly at the top? you mean that 4 extrusions would be good as well in stead of 7 or how do you mean?

The arch. It looks like it has too many polys making it 'cylindrical' at the top. Try to remove some so theres less polys, but keep enough to make it look decent.

okay I'll try and lower the poly's on that when the whole model is finished. But shaun, don't get me wrong but the reply to mike was meant friendly

what are you talking about?
if ur talking about the roof, then a singel bevel on a square isnt to much>.>
looks really great! looking forward the finished product!!

Hey guys, I added some details to the front and the back. Does anybody know things I could add to the house?(I'm already going to add some windows at the front) Anyway here are some screenshots:

He is saying that there are too many segments defining each arch.

i think it all depends on how you texture it now. the model itself looks fine.

Looking good! Reminds me of a building from a Battlefield 2 map.

Are you making an interior? That would be great

thanks guys!

@autobot: No, I was planning to but that would make the model way too high poly, and the texture file would get to big. I might make some segments though.
