I've recently opened a Turbo Squid account in order to try and make some money building 2/3d objects. Looking through the TS stats there seems to be a need for tools and hardware models. So I've started a Toolbox set of models, roughly 10 models altogether with different color variant maps. They will all be high poly with high resolution materials. If there is a need for it, I'd be willing to create game ready versions with baked normals, though only if enough people ask for it.

Started on my first model for the project, a screw driver. Still a wip, need to touch up a few things then finish a few variations of the the shaft piece. Another day or two of work and it'll be finished. Prices for the models are undetermined as of yet.

Model: Screwdriver
Limbs: 2
Tri-polygons: 6872

Screwdriver Shaded:

Screwdriver Wire:

Crits and suggestions welcome. If you have any ideas for models you'd like to see, then please share.

Edit: Updated the shaded preview, forgot to enable AA when I rendered.

Hmm, someone didn't read my post. I'll only bake it if enough people want a game ready version.

Handle mesh is complete. Working on the material map atm. Will unwrap and texture it next. Think I'll go with 4 different material maps altogether for the handle. Working on the shaft piece next.

Alright, finished the main mesh. Unwrapped it and ready to add some texture.

nice and clean, I like it. Are you planning to do mostly smaller hand tools or some of the larger stuff also like a table saw, drill press and what not?

I was going to say the same thing, but I didn't want to critique a 3d master...!

The head of the screwdriver should be like the ^ref pic^. The end would be hammered flat and the metal would bulge out the sides when flattened.

However, I do have a couple screwdrivers like the one you modeled... but they are at the bottom of my toolbox. Coming from an old roofer/carpenter, a sharper tip is preferred.

My green thumb grew the tree my Trojan War horse was crafted from. With roses in our pockets we rally round the tombstones. Ashes to ashes, we all fall down.

Ortu:
I plan to make an assortment of tools including electrical ones. Right now I'm starting out with simple tools you would find in your average tool box.

Quik and Cough:
I actually modeled this after one of my own screwdrivers, the proportions are dead-on , but I'm going to make several different versions of the shaft. I was planning a long thin one, then a ratchet type tip and of course a Philips tip.

Thanks for the crits, will post more soon.

...and don't let the 3d master title scare you, that just means I can make ugly polys look pretty.

Small update. Made it thinner to please the masses.

Going to model a Philips end tonight. If your wondering about details like ridges, I'm going to add those in with the bump map.
