Cool, are you gunna try and make the cutscenes look good graphics wise, or just make them fit in with the gameplay?

I am tired of writing, so I started working on the base mesh for not just Edward, but for the male crew as well. I am using the specialist mesh and adding to it what I need. Also just to show what my plan is, I included the armor rough sketch that will go over the specialist mesh. Enjoy!

Thanks and yes, all the models will have normals and specular maps. Everything that is required for bond's shaders.

Well, I have the first part of the script done. I have sent it to Wehtam and Kravenwolf for their input on the script. So far the cutscenes are looking long, but I think they will be worth it.

I will let you all know what they have to say about the script.

You are doing great!

As of yet I don't know, but what I am going for is like 5 minute cutscenes. Not to long, but enough to get the point across.

Quote: "i think i might go play some beyond life right now"
I say go for it and enjoy!

I need to update this. The script is moving along, but I am waiting on replies on what I have written, before moving to far forward on the script. The way I see it, if the beginning is not right then the rest will be off and I don't want that.

Come on Wetham and reply!!!

On a lighter point I am taking a small vaction from this to help Cosmic with a new pack in which I will be working with Cp and EAI on. Just to let you know I am still working on this. I have asked Rolfy for some help and he has been gracious enough to help me out as he is working on my problem right now. So I thank Rolfy for the help.

The models are being finished as far as character models, but level design is on it's way to begin.

Here is the lastest screenie. Enjoy!

is Wehtam helping you with the story and characters?
how many levels will the game be? I know the original was restricted to one level.
This is really looking good, keep it up!

Thanks for the comment!

Yes and no. When I was given the project, I was given the ins and outs for doing the remake. One was, Wetham asked for a weekly update until I made this post. And as for the story, I am free to expand the universe, but Kravenwolf and I have pretty much detailed the end of BLR, so that it ties the two together.

The one level that evryone has played from the original will be split into several levels. Not for the loading time, but I have more to add to the gameplay.

Now for the update! As I said before, I am taking a small break from this, but I do have some news. I asked Rolfy for some help and he has made me a new shader for an idea I had. It made a big change to the game. Thanks Rolfy!

Ive played Beyond life and it was pretty cool (if you were patient enough), but now with more levels, and better graphics. I also liked the concept art for the space pirates is very good, and I hope you know of good modeling software. Other than that, pretty cool.

That's always nice to here and yes that load time is long. Hopefully I can remedy that, by expanding the levels.

I do have some updates on this. I have been in contact with Kravenwolf and he has enjoyed the first part of my script. I have started on making some revisions to the script to account for some new ideas. Once I am finished with the weapons pack for Cp's wasterlanders, then I will get back on this.

Good to hear, since i loved the original i can't wait for the Rebuild. I hope you can achieve a shorter loading time, that was the only thing that freaked me out when i played BL.

hope to see more,

I take it I have given some of you an idea for a new weapon.

Here is some test footage of the first BLR trailer. When I made this my computer caught a virus and I have yet to make a complete trailer for the game, but this will do for now.

Enjoy!!

No not a sequel. Wetham was very clear on the part. This is like Batman Begins was, a rebirth of an idea. The sequel is being done by Kravenwolf.

I wish.

Yes. I have been pretty busy lately to do an actual finished texture on it. But everything is coming together.

Thanks for the comments, I will try to get more screenies up after the holidays and the snow.

Sorry Wolf, been busy with snow and sleep.

For the levels I am working on a few new ideas and how to pull them off. Rolfy and Mark have helped me on some of the shaders for it. As for the main construction of the levels in fpsc, that would be a no. Mostly on paper and some chicken scratches.

As for the modeling, thank you. I have been trying to really improve my models. Trying learn how to make better meshes and textures. Will be getting on this more after the holidays.

No I have been working on level one segments lately. Also been working on the entities for that level. When I am done with them a little bit more I will show a screenie, maybe later today or tomorrow.

What you all have been waiting for is some more wip pics. This is the start of the level for the colony where the game will start. Wetham made a screenie for what he wanted the colony to look like, so I have the base segments done. I will be working on the entities later when I get back from the store. Enjoy!

Here is what Wetham wanted:

Here is the dark shader screenies and in-game screenie of what I have done:

Looking good My only criticism is that the room isn't quite colourful enough. Whether or not it's just because the lighting isn't finished yet I'm not sure, but the environment looks a little faded and bland. It's lacking the vibrant colours of the screenshot.

It's a great start though, keep it up.

I completely agree. Right now it is a base or test level to get the look and feel off the screenshot. I think some bloom would help, but I don't like to do wip levels with bloom til I feel I am close to being done.

I did set the lighting from 150 - 500 to get the brightness up and it did look better. I had the lighting low for testing purposes. I have two more entities built, just need to make a new ceiling texture, another pillar, window segment, curtains and the window curtain rod and I show have something close to the screenshot. The only problem I had so far is the glass for the light. It seems placing a light inside the glass it won't pass throught the object. Anyone know how to remedy that?

Thanks.

To be honest...I was doubting that this remake would be any good and that it couldn't touch Wehtam's historical FPSC Title...

but I'm glad that I've been proved wrong!

Great work and glad to see someone making serious use of the shaders
