Sounds cool but looks a bit like this project might die quickly. Plus, what are you making this in? If FPSC, then you needed to wait longer. The screenshots are pretty terrible. If DBPro, then great! I think you need to start work on the FPS engine first. As I always say, engine first, good looks later.

What's ECMO? You need to have a bit more of a clear storyline. No one likes having the name of someone without knowing who it is. I would recommend, as this seems to be some kind of a mystery FPS, that you not name the girl yet. Just have it as though he can't remember who it is or something.

It's not the most well-written storyline draft, maybe do a spell-check on it? Also, this line makes no sense:

Quote: "Looking as though they were trying to rip out of the skin desperately trying to conceal them"

Just trying to help, but be prepared to take more criticism.

Just another update. I guess i was a little too early in posting a thread but i'm serious about making a game. Work on all parts is going along. I will have a bit more storyline in the next day or two.

Sorry for the responses you've gotten until now... Time to make it right

Nice models you have there, I like the reflections you made in the first screenshots! Did you use a shader, or is that just two models on a ghosted plain?

Keep it up!

Hint to those that haven't worked it out... Sketchup

Should be interesting to see what it looks like when imported into DBPro, so good luck.

Because of the edge lines, and the XYZ coloured lines in the first pic. Plus you wouldn't have a reflective road in DBPro.

Yes, I think that's it. Unfortunately, unless you have the Pro version of Sketchup you can't export anything other than Collada. I do have a 10-step way of using Collada files in DBPro, though. You need the 2.49b version of Blender.

1. Export the model to a Collada format.
2. Open Blender.
3. Choose File > Import > COLLADA 1.4
4. Import the file.
5. Select the Scene the file has imported to.
6. Press B (bounding box selection).
7. Select all the parts of the model.
8. Press Ctrl+J and agree to join the meshes.
9. Choose File > Export > DirectX (or DirectX 9 if using Kira's exported).
10. Export the file and load into DBPro.

So simple...

Anyway it works so to anyone using Sketchup, DON'T GIVE UP! Actually I don't care, you can give up if you like but don't whine to us.

The first three screens are not DBpro.

Not Sketchup either.

If your also telling me not to give up thank you.

Ouch.

Once again more work on everything is continuing. I had another screenshot but it disappeared. the next time i post however there will be actual in game screens. yay!

Actually, that's not true, there are free plugins that are available, that allow you to export to X.

Looks alot like a cartoony PS2 Game, i think you should give darker, more suspenseful graphics because the name of the game, Blackout, fit the graphics to the mood.
You never did tell us what program the screenshots came from.

Yeah man the guy who said that will be sorry when Jesus... comes round his house and forgives him.

Anyhow it's good that the models have been sucessfully, I assume, loaded into DBP. The models do look good. If you're making a FPS, maybe it would be best to use FPS creator though.

I don't agree. FPSC can be one of the most annoying programs I have ever used, plus it's limited, slow (especially the games as they load), and the games created with it look like they've been created with it.

I would love to know what program those screenies are coming from. If you've told me already I've forgotten and I don't have time to go back and look.

Haha, right.

And I'd love to see some gameplay. Is it still alive, after two months of news-less-ness?

Its still alive i promise you all. I'm hoping to have a few videos up soon. Its just a matter of producing all the 3d models and other content. I'm trying to work on this as much as i can. As for the screenshots the first few were from a wings to try and get a response to the models i'm making. The more recent ones are not.

Heres a new screenshot in an attempt to keep things interesting. I've decided to redo the vehicle models and I'm still working on the sky box. It will be awesome.

Thanks for the patience.

That's actually a very nice idea, modelling the level in sketchup then importing it into fpsc, if you got a nice shader you could make the level have very nice graphics. How's the collision though?

Well all of this looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing more

Hey JZ28,

This actually looks like it's coming along. The first post is now much better I see the last edit was quite recent - means it's definitely still alive!

All the stuff I said early (I think in my first post here) is now quite irrelevant.

Generally the models are looking great!

Hope you finish it!

EDIT: Just noticed the bars along the bottom of the screenshots - did you decide to use FPSC after all? If you did, it's actually not as bad as I said it was since my last post (I downloaded the latest update), but for me it continues to be useless because of a bug it has on my computer (see http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=173267&b=28). I just went and looked, though, and someone may have just fixed my bug.

EDIT2: Oops, I left my own bug report so long I can no longer reply....oops...
