All,

I've run into some issues compiling the FPSC source code released in DBPro upgrade extras (v7.5) in the link below.

http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2000&page=upgrade7-5

After upgrading DBPro to v7.5 and putting the extras files in the correct places I get a compiling error report saying Dark AI and Light Mapper dll's are not valid.

I also noticed the 7.5 extras description says 'for V117 version - interim version'. Does this mean the V117 final source has not been released / packaged yet?

I don't want to use the latest V118 source on google code because its in beta and I want to use the latest stable version of the code.

Please can someone help or tell me what I'm doing wrong? If the V117 final source hasn't been released yet please release this with DBPro upgrade v7.6 extras and ensure it all compiles.

I've found the V118 source to be the most stable for compiling, but there is an issue with the compile and the editor, which some experience.

Have you downloaded the latest dll's from the google code site?

Hi Scene Commander

I downloaded the google code dll's and used them with the v7.5 extras source code. The light mapper dll compiled but there was no lightmapping in test / game builds.

I'd be interested to hear more about the compiled V118 editor issues people are having and is there a fix for this?

I'll try compiling the V118 source and see what happens. It would be nice if the final source for each version is packaged so I know I'm starting with something which compiles properly.

There is nothing wrong with the source code in the 7.5 extras at all. We can say that it compiles just fine.

Which version of DBP 7.5 upgrade are you running? One of the betas or the final? I ask because we had issues compiling FPSC source code with a couple of the DBP beta versions. We had gone back to DBP 7.5B3 which seemed to be the best one for us. I don't recall if we ran the final DBP 7.5 upgrade or stayed; I'll have to check.

@Nomad Soul :- You have to make sure you have installed Dark ai and Dark lights then you won't get the error.

@BlackFox

I'm using the final v7.5 DBPro upgrade. I've just used the one in the website download rather than a beta from the forums. I'll try using the DBPro 7.5B3 so thanks for the tip.

@s4real

I thought the decision to open source the next generation FPSC engine meant we didn't need to purchase Dark AI and Dark Lights seperately to compile the source.

Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer before I can start a mod then.

No problem. We tried the U75 upgrades as they came out, and after Beta 3 we had problems with how some segments were appearing in our development. When we reverted back to U75 Beta 3, we had no issues. As I said before, I don't recall if I ran the final release of U75 or stayed with what I had. We already own Dark AI and Dark Lights, so that was never an issue for us.

I did a search for the thread and found this, which may be of help to you. You should still be able to download the various releases from the thread.

I'm afraid you still need them and to replace the Dark AI dll with the one from the google site.

BlackFox has pointed you in the right direction, as you'll need that update, he is also correct that the source in the 7.5 compiles without issue providing you have dark lights and dark ai installed.

Also, if you're compiling the latest google code source, I found it useful to install beta 3 of V118 so you've got all the required FPSC files in the correct place.

An interesting question. I'm using the exact same set up as S4Real, and yet he can compile the same code and not get an editor crash, but when I compile it I get an error. This error of course only affects the editor and so isn't source code driven. If anyone has any ideas, please contribute.

It was the same thing for a while between Flatlander and myself. I would get errors when trying to compile the source code. I know I made a telephone call to s4real one time to discuss this problem and we discovered my version of the compiler was a different than his. After addressing that, I have never had any issues. The only difference is that when Flatlander compiles code, and I compile code, my EXE is slightly bigger. That is due to our side having extras that he does not.

Sadly, I don't think this is the issue as as far as we can tell S4Real and I are using the same compiler. It's bound to be something really stupid and obvious.
