Bond1 this may be a silly question but I need confirmation on it, the projected shadow is placed at the bottom of an entity, but if that character lets say falls from a high piller using rag doll and the entity turns in the air the shadow will not reflect this motion. I would expect the shadow still to be placed at the entities feet even though he would be diving head first to the ground?

To confirm turning, twisting the entity does not have any impact on position of shadow.

Am I right?

Many thanks

Shadows are disabled and disappear once the character enters ragdoll. This happens automatically, and probably the desirable behavior anyway.

Otherwise, the projected shadows are fixed at character's ground plane. Even if the character twists and turns during animation, the shadow remains at ground level, rather than "stuck" on the character's feet.

YAY!!!
I knew you could do it!
I am looking forward to getting that shader for my old game.

Thanks Bond, for all your hard work.
You continue to amaze us with your talents, and I really appreciate all you do for us.

Cheers

Bond 1, I dont have DarkShader, and can't afford it. So what do I need to tweak in the .fx file to make the shadow longer so that it's like a light from the side and not directly above?

I just purchased the pack a couple of days ago. I love the pack but am having troubles with the "template."

You said:

Quote: "Just assign the template shader to any character that you want to have shadows - and that's it!! "

Assign it to what? I tried the most obvious and that was the effect parameter for the character. Here is what I get when I do that.

I am using v118 b10. The effect I am using is "effectbank\ps_2_0\viral_outbreak\character_planarshadow_template.fx"

Do I use this along with the bumpbone somehow?

@F l a t l a n d e r
Make sure it has a _I texture.

Why does my grammar/spelling suck so much?!?!?

Thanks Uzi, I was just looking at that and it doesn't. How does one go about getting the _I texture? It definitely doesn't come with it. Something you have to do in Dark Shaders or some other shader package?

the _I texture is the illumination.
Copy and paste the attached file into your sifi entity directory if you don't want anything to glow.
Remember to assign shaders by the FPE, not in the editor or else you might get that problem.

I hope that is what you need.

Why does my grammar/spelling suck so much?!?!?

Again, I thank you Uzi. We are making progress. However, although the shader isn't causing an avatar (blue conker), I'm not getting any shadow.

I am using the default setting in the fx file. The fx file was added to the fpe of conker (unarmed).

Here is the image:

Addendum:

OK, before you break your brain trying to figure out why there is no shadow. I figured it out. I'm using RPG Mod and in my mod I can turn off the blob shadow. Turning off the blob shadow simply means that the shadow (blob) code will not run. Apparently, in order for the shadow shader to work, I need to allow the code to run as it should. So, I turned it back on and there is now a shadow.

Thanks so very much for the help and I also appreciate giving me a generic _I texture. Which seems to be nothing but a blank texture. Never thought of that.

I have just seen in my order download list that model packs 22, 38, 52 and Zombie Apocalypse from bond1 were updated 28th Mar 2011.

Does anyone know what the update did to these packs?

edit: I see that some packs are same size while MP38 has gone from a 81 MB installer down to only 58,1 MB.
