ErrantAI first unveiled these characters in June 2009. They are set to be released in Feb 2011. They've been in development for the better part of 2 years! This is someone who cares about his craft.

Here's hoping you get the sales you deserve, lord knows that's a freaking long time to work on a model pack. I can't wait to see how these are used with DarkAI!

That's the sort of prices people should expect to pay for a decent stock model with LOD and Max, etc formats. The listed price is pretty average. And no... TF-341 won't cost anywhere near that and there's a load of stuff included. I think the installer is like a 440MB download.


@Unreal1ty- the structure in the background is a combination of three things...

1. segment from TGC account on GCS in their industrial section and called "Corrugated Room". I think it's also in modelpack 3.

2. some I-beams from the stock WW2 entity furnitureb category called "structurala"

3. a bunch of sheet metal entities from stock SciFi furniturea category named "sheeta" cobbled onto...

4. a custom house frame segment I built. It's not available but I'm pretty sure I've seen similar segments around the forums.

Yeah... about 2 years. Pretty sad, eh? After all the effort, I was sort of gutted when TGC put a pretty unflattering pic up on FB recently but it's all good because i noticed a couple bugs I'd missed. I've definitely learned a lot in the process and I think it's turned out well for a first legit stab at character modeling and animation. They've been through so many re-dos it's not even funny. Plus there were a lot of things that have been changing in FPSC and it's been really challenging to keep abreast of. As it is, these are up to date to a point where it'll be required to have a minimum of 1.18 beta 7 just to use things properly... they don't work at all (with the default scripts) in 1.17. Thanks for the well wishes and thanks for contributing skinning_norm_spec.fx to the stock library. It's a great shader

@ErrantAI, the waiting was surely worth it.

PS: I had rather expected 3 different packs (Fiendly, Ally, Enemy)than this meagapack.

It indeed is

Only this time around the tracks, wheels and camera are animated and you can swing the turret around using rotatehead calls which looks pretty neat when it's roving around.

Putting together the first of a few videos right now. The first one will show all the character anims using a script I'm including which uses fpgcrawtext to print the name and anim numbers that one would use if callng in a script. Should be very handy for those who want to take advantage of all the new anims.

Yup. And they're state of the art as far as FPSC goes... Aiming, melee, alt-mode, shaders, empty animations, tactical and full reloads, bla, bla, bla...

Anyhow...

Grab a snack and put on some music because this video is overlong and tedious to watch but it shows the core character animations for TF341. There are additional animation sets not shown for pistol, heavy-gun/chainsaw and rpg which are not shown in this video. While most all of the stock anims have been modified, the anims with names in all-caps are totally new. The anim number displayed at the top is the animate=x value to be used in scipt to play the desired animation.



The next vid will show some proper action but I need a nap first.

Anims 48 and 49 are the equivalent to that though if you wanted him to let the gun hang down instead of holding it, you could open the .fpe and add two more anim definitions in any empty slots between 100 and 149 and plug in the frameranges for 48 and 49. That would allow you to override the weapontype system. All the anims are essentially male by default. The female anims are there mostly for the female characters who don't have body armor. The last two anims I have no sane explanation for...

Whoa! errant I saw a guns section in that model pack screen shot! are those a separate model pack or a upgrade to model pack 9 and 10? that looks amazing. The video is fantastic. I can't wait!

Tomorrow is going to be amazing!!!! Black Ops map pack, and these amazing jaw dropping phenomenons! I'm definitely going to buy these, and probably on the first day. So for my understanding were getting close to 100 amazing characters, which I truly mean amazing, about 7 guns that I needed, and a TRV?! For what price? $50? Or as Errant implied, that we'll be surprised at the low price, but Errant I am sorry to inform you.....

I refuse to buy these...

If they cost less than $30. It would feel like I'm smack a child and stealing his stuff, its too good of an offer. And by saying its too good of an offer, I mean it would be if it costs anything under $100 for the pack. You did amazing on these and, well I'm at a loss for words...

And I usually have allot of those.

Now enough of me ranting about these crazy good models and deal. How hard will it be to incorporate sort of a reacting scene? Like a loop for a character until A) They get under attack by anything B) They die C) They spot an enemy or D) The next part of the storyline happens? By loop I mean the character will walk a small path, contact someone on a radio, sit down for a bit, then do it all over.

How difficult would that be? And what are the different Dark AI scripts for these? Like is there one where two enemies will start fist fighting, or they concentrate on siting down and radioing people till you recruit them as a teammate.

Thanks for reading my long post, and thanks for answering any of the questions I just asked.

New video up!

Video shows some of the TF341 hud/player weapons featuring proper shaders, aiming, alt modes, melee, tac and full reloads, etc. All the weapons except the M203s can be dual-wielded in Project Blue Mod. Illumination maps are also included to make the optic rets glow if used with a compatible shader/mod



@Cross Hair Games thanks for the kind post. If it was under $30 it wouldn't matter because bond1 would track me down and murder me before I could collect any royalties ..all I can say is that it will be the least-cheap pack to date but still priced with the FPSC community in mind.

If anyone think it's too cheap, well, I won't stop them from buying it twice

As for your questions it really just comes down to your FPI skills. The AI scripts are split into main and shoot scripts so you can combo things up a bit pretty easily. When I get the official thread going I will help people learn how to set up those kind of circumstances. I'll explain a bit more about how the default behaviors work later on.


@Everyone. Not that I'm one to discourage opening day sales but just keep in mind that this pack requires v1.18 which is still in beta. The default scripts do not work in v1.17 so if you just want to drag n' drop you'll need v1.18 beta7 or later.

...AND to just clear things up; YES these weapons are in the pack plus a few more not in the vid. What you saw in the editor capture is what you will get. These are rehashes of some older weapons BUT they have been rebuilt from the ground up. For those who paid for the M249A on GCS, I do not want you to feel jipped so I will be adding a special treat in the GCS upload to compensate.

I personally also can't wait to see the further additions you plan to make of these characters. Like Soviet Spetsnaz FTW! I can't choose yet what pack I want to get. Most likely all but will have to wait till I am paid next.

No. I accidentally hit the crouch key which puts the camera (stupidly, IMO) at prone height... It's always been like that.

In gunspec I've set the F key to be firemode change for combo weapons and L-Alt for gun melee. With the knife, L-Alt does the more powerful stabbing attack. There are tips on the pickup messages that tell the keys used for special stuff. The picking up itself is script bound to "action" key which defaults to enter but I'm pretty sure you can change default in setup.ini. The mode keys however have to be changed individually.

Yes, that is alt-mode behavior you're seeing. Note that the weapon doesn't go off screen to change between launcher/rifle modes... the player character just flips up the leaf sight and repositions a bit. Also, when the gun comes across the body in running anims it's because the gun can't be fired either because it's out of ammo or in the case of the SAW, I've used a setting to disable shooting while running.

There already is... it's the crouch key... unfortunately. The player camera skips crouch height and goes to prone height as-is. If you stand nekt to a crouching character and press C your eye-level is knee/crotch height. It would probably require source editing for what you want or else a mod that lets you set camera height.

Yes. This is shown as default. Any weapon can be disabled for run shooting with two easy changes in its gunspec.

Anyhow- back to vid making. next up is to start showing some AI.

EAI, your pack looks really cool, and i'll be getting it for sure. I had some questions though...
I noticed in some of your previous screens, i think it was in another thread, but i noticed that some of your characters had snow camo on. Are you planning on releasing those guys eventually too? Or perhaps your planning on making a #2 pack that has reskins??
Just curious because those guys looked really cool, and i want them too. :-P
I was also wondering if your characters can move their mouth and actually talk like the Dark Voices and those standard characters.

Can't wait for Feb 1st!

Since the one thing that really takes my fancy, is one of the black uniformed females (I'm not into contemporary warfare at all) I hope somehow the models also find their way into the store.

Couple of things I'd like to know...

First, could we use the models to do PB Legs+Body?

Secondly, will they be possible with the PB Dark AI allies?
Cosmic's ones didn't work at all with them... They just span in the air and glitched up completely.

But yeah, now I know the animate numbers, time to code up a massive fight between a friend and a foe - just like the end of MW2

THREE DAYS INCLUDING TODAY AND THE RELEASE DAY. I can't wait... D:
Oh, crap. I have no spare money... Gonna have to wait till the fifth - my BDay...

PS. In the second vid, what did you do to get the pistol to meele? Or was it not actually meele...?
