Hi, i want to show you the current state of my project "NextHack" (Working title)

It is a Rogue-like Real-Time RPG.

It is based on Hubdules "Huge Dungeon" Tutorial,
Rich Dersheimer´s Quickmap-Modul
and it uses a Paralaxshader from the forum.

It uses timerbased Movement and at this state your current displaysettings + VSync.

Screenshot attached.

Please feel free to test and comment.

If you test the Engine Demo, please post you FPS and Display Settings, CPU, Videocard and RAM.

Thank you

I like it! Sliding collision would be nice

Ok, I think my low specs computer will be interesting for you as an orientation fpr min. system specs:

12-16 fps with 1900x600 resolution , Nvidia Geforce 5900 FX , Pentium 4 3 Ghz, 1,5 GB RAM , Windows XP SP2

Shaders seem to work well.

Ok, i found a FPS killer in my source, so i will optimize the Engine a lot more....

Soon i will post a new demo, maybe the fps on lower specs will be (hopefully) a lot higher

60 FPS with liek a billion other tasks going.

I have just one comment: Collision detection is way jacked up. Every time you come close to a corner you just stop dead in your tracks. It's kind of annoying.

WOW! Great work so far!

Comments/crits - the wall texture looks a bit too shiny and plastic, not very "stone" like.

And I am also getting hung up on the corners as well.

Running at 1680 x 1050 and getting 60 fps.

2.66 GHz intel Core Duo with 2 gig RAM, Vista Home Premium SP2,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280.

Can't wait to see how this comes along!

This looks cool, and I was interested in checking it out, but I got an error "Runtime Error 104 - The File is invalid at line 403"

Not sure what's going on there.

its coming along really nice. some suggestions would be, to use a float variable for the camera, it seems too... mechanic, and you should use sliding collision. other than that, its great.

i had 60 fps and have winxp 2.0ghz Intel pentium cpu, 3gb Nvidia gt240 @1440x900

Looking very good!

I thought I'd comment a bit on the sounds as everyone else took care of other areas...

The walking sound goes from right to left which seems strange... Also the way you loop it is not the best. You should probably start it over when the player starts walking, and when he stops you should allow the current step-sound to finish...

Also the door sound seemed a bit cut-off and garbled...

Other than that it looks very nice...
