Holy turd-balls, this game is awesome. Official Website, and most popular fan forums.

Basically, this game is vaguely similar to Minecraft, except it's 2-d, and probably taking high doses of pure concentrated awesome. Seriously, this thing should be sent to rehab, as should I for being so addicted to it in only one day of release.

Trailer:

You can get it on Steam right now for only $9.99, and if I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up this instant.

Oh, and if anybody does pay any mind to me and pick it up, my Steam ID is Happy Cheesecake. I'd love to try out the multiplayer. And if someone from the forum bothers to host a private server, that's even better!

Let me say, it's VERY inspired by Minecraft, but it has its own unique things about it. It's still very fun, nonetheless.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

No, it definitely isn't a rip-off at all. I think I remember Notch even posting about this game in his blog, saying himself that it's not a rip-off. I mean, there are certain mechanics that are the same, but honestly, I think they just took mechanics from all of the games they enjoy, and Minecraft just happened to be one of the biggest influences. It doesn't feel like Minecraft in the slightest while you're playing. Night cycles, destroying & building, and a few generic RPG items being the same doesn't really make a rip-off.

saying its a ripoff, really i hate the word ripoff, since its very much confused with the word inspired...

anyway, i saw this on Total Biscuits channel, and it looks AMAZING, i might pick it up in a month or so, when i got money ^^

and for the record, I am a man.

Awesome game, looking forward to updates and all that when they start coming.

Music is a masterpiece of colossal proportions and the gameplay is great.

This game is amazing!

So far, I've gotten the hell fury bow, and the molten pickaxe.

what I really want is those grapple vine thingies though... those would be really helpful...

Has anyone played multiplayer yet? How is it?

Haven't played multiplayer yet, but if we can we should find a way to set up a TGC server.

And you already made it to Hell? >_<

I've been playing around 33 hours and still haven't made it to Hell! Haha, although I'm not the most avid cave explorer. I'm rockin' full Shadow or Meteor armor most of the time and my main weapon of choice is probably the Hamaxe (with the melee speed boost from Shadow armor) or the Starfury (with mana regen and reduced usage from Meteor armor and mana regen ring).

I still have not made my first regular potion because I can't find blue shrooms.

Man, I gotta start exploring the caves a bit. I should be able to handle the monsters in hell, right?

I can't make any promises, but if I find out my old Dell can handle running the server, I could run one for about 12 hours a day. Only problem is my ip is dynamic =/

Also, just another warning...my connection isn't the greatest, but at least it doesn't drop every 10 seconds either =/.

But yeah, the dynamic ip may ruin it.

You can get a free domain name to point to your dynamic IP address here:
http://www.dyndns.com/

You can even set up your router to automatically tell dyndns its new IP address whenever it changes.

well, one word: Hamachi. Thats an amazing program, I and my friends use it all the time, since ips are shorter, you need to join a room to be able to see the ips, and connect to them.

and for the record, I am a man.

I'm trying Diggsey's way. Everyone let me know if they lag or whatever...anything to let me know how it's working so far. I can't join you guys for a good 6 hours or so.

Hamachi is ok if friends are just gonna LAN. But for a proper server one should use the opened port.

HC should update first post with the server information

me and my friend use it all the time, less lag, and easier to check who comes on and off^^

Edited the first post with server info. Now, time to check out that server.

[edit]

"Goblin Army approaches from the East."

Oh God... I just got the house set up and I'm the only one on the server! Wish me luck guys, this could get nasty...

[edit2]

Mission accomplished. House is finished and none of the NPC's were killed during the invasion. But man, with the increased spawn rate on multiplayer, that invasion was brutal!

How's it working? Does it lag? It may get worst as we get more peeps on it, my connection isn't the best, but I mean it's a free server. If we got a personal server it might work better,b ut those aren't free.

Nah, the lag is not an issue as far as I can tell. It's definitely bearable. Eye of Cthulu also attacked when I was on.

Memory editors gave me 10plat .
Your multiplayer saves are stored locally.

I blew a massive hole in the server (like 15 dynamite), maybe as close to hell as our main mine.

Got so fricken lucky in the jungle, and got some amazing drops in Hell while my internet was out last night and this morning. Man, I cannot wait to show somebody mah gear, haha.

[edit] Oh, and I'm editing in the server details into the first post whenever I see it, just for convenience sake.

[edit2]

Just defeated the Goblin Army solo on destrugter's server, and all I can say is... Woo!!!

So the reason diggsey's way didn't work was because the game wouldn't accept a url as the server. It now does with the new 1.0.2 update. I'll edit this post in about 4 minutes with the domain name that I configured earlier and the IP will automatically be resolved.

Sounds like a fine deal, mah man, but weirdly enough, I let either Fatal Berserker or destrugter 1 borrow my rocket boots one day, and haven't gotten them back yet.

I'm just messing with them, if they want to give up the boots, you're more than welcome to take them. I'm not going to be selfish considering how lucky I was. No charge.

That is pretty cool! I immediately recognized it.

For a flagpole maybe use a tree and a wooden platform near the top?

The slimes look like goombas.

Hey Happy Cheesecake. We were planning on having you, me, bergice and fatal berserker fight all 3 bosses at the same time in the same area! Should be fun, let me know if you're up to it, and what time is good for you to play.

If you are going to call it a ripoff, you might as well call every other game, a ripoff, as every other games out there has taken inspiration from others and could just as easily be called a ripoff.

I've been playing this for the past 2-3 days now and I'm liking it better than Minecraft at the moment. It offers a lot more fun than what MC offers and also has a larger item base and monster types.

The only thing I dislike, is the way servers are ran. Why could you not have created a stand alone server for the game? Why do I have to log into steam to run a server? Why is the server part of the client? Well hopefuly this will be sorted out once they realise people want proper server software.

Hey guys, I have Terraria on my Facebook thing and so whenever they make a post I'm alerted about it. I just saw this post today.

Quote: "
The upcoming Server software is coming along nicely. And it can change things like port number and max players (255!) as promised. And it has kick/ban stuff of course.
"

That's going to be sweet =).
