today, I have been reading about BBB gui, blue gui, top gui etc.... . all those plugin don't seem to be very much official.
I wish we can get an official release of such plugins that can be trusted to be added to our library without causing an unsuspected crash.

does anybody here agree with me.

A lot of the plugins sold by TGC are actually made by users on the forum, such as BlitzTerrain and Box2D. TGC themselves are probably a little too busy with AppGameKit at the minutes to work on one.

BBB gui would be your best bet in my opinion, it seems to be the best supported plugin, and I don't believe blue gui is supported anymore. I haven't used top GUI however, so I can't comment on that.

xgui is terrible, the whole eXtends addon is terrible. And alot of it doesn't even work on today's versions of DBPro.

I would suggest using BBB Gui. Have used it, and it works very well.

this link where you can find it. I haven't used it yet but am leaving it for sometimes later as my projects don't need gui yet.

one of the news editor members in the forum is using "Topgui" and he hasn't got problem with it. Top gui needs matrix utilities and advanced 2d plugging.

it seems that both plugging worth looking at.

look at matrix utilities (not gui). am working on it at the moment. it is such an amazing plugging and worth looking at.

be careful from putting too many Dlls in the compiler because you may see conflicting messages. DBpro compiler will tell you which Dlls are conflicting, so you can go to the compiler file and remove one of the Dll. try not to remove the original DBpro and plugging licensed Dlls.

long post but wished it cover the answer for you question.

thank you basjak

just one question, you said your programs do not need gui... do you use other means? I have STYX it has the capability of FLASH files for menus... i was wondering if I would be better off designing my gui's in flash instead of using non-official gui's... I only need gui for menu systems but I figure using flash would be easier maybe? I will have to seek out help for using flash menus though... but I will try

Thank you in advance

styx and other add ons give extra help and I really like it but sometimes it is nice to produce something different to improve creativity and programming skills. (personal point of view).

you can use 3d objects as a menu. have a look to my simple sudoku version on youtube (the professional version packaging will be ready soon). it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4mxAgx8VTo

or
you can use sprite and let the program act according to mouse click and position.

or
basic 2d drawing (I love it). you can download the example file from the download Icon.
if you're interested I can help you with the process.
sorry I didn't give you the professional screen outlook but what you will see covers the subject. the professional outlook left for your creativity.

in this program:
1- choose your colour setting then save it.
2- close the program.
3- re open the program.
4- you will see the old colour setting has been saved.

both examples done using DBpro core commands without the need to any add-on.

having matrix utility + gui I think am saying goodbye to c++.(not fully)

I want to avoid matrix utility at this point as I am relearning everything from 'hello world' for My blog to post up everything along the beaten path I picked up 'Hello World' last September... so I think as an anniversary I shall begin my relearning process all over again.

Any exp on the flash side of STYX? I recall having issues understanding how to put the read data from a flash file... maybe I need some special code?

ah, you will need to know flash programming such as action script by adobe but it is expensive compiler (up to $900).

there are some other flash languages that produce same results and cheap (up to £100) but adobe are the masters.

for now other than animation, am not very much interested in learning flash things.

YES {anything wrong?}

I figured it was ActionScript... I will need to find the script involved with the output... I have a nice Flash development program, thank you for confirming this
