Okay,.... WHEW!!!! Got it going. Thank you all.
windows 7 sure is funny. You need a gargantuan directX11 library to have pixels appear on the screen, then you need ANOTHER 89 Megabytes of graphics code to get a picture display running simultaneously along side it. An older version, in this case, dX9.0c.
Well I got it going, however, it was NOT, I repeat NOT NOT easy to figure out how to get it into 1280x1024 full screen display, ESPECIALLY when you had to choose it TWICE in the UNSEEN options, AND EVEN THEN, I could NOT CHOOSE the "FULLSCREEN RESOLUTION" under the "SCREEN" option until I did something, and I can't remember what I did to make it "choosable" if someone else asks me how to do it..... "DarkBasic" isn't that easy to use..... But I have looked at many other languages, and they are pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to use.... And this goes for "SIMPLE" as well. I don't know how many may be familiar with it, but there was some very basic feature that I was not able to achieve with it. Think it was something to do with grabbing keyboard input.
BTW, in windows XP I was, "relatively easily" able to get to full screen control, as that sidebar for selecting it was visible upon first launching of DarkBasic (I believe, because I can't remember struggling to find it before).
Are there commands to change that inside of DarkBasic, while it's running?
Oh and, what's up with the near impossible arrows key capture with the INKEY$ command? I've used a Basic before where it was 28, 29, 30 and 31. EASY!
If all the "1"s are in the right place, it'll work like a charm.
