I guess it's what happens when you believe what you read in the news.

But a part of me wouldn't be surprised if it was, I mean take the stupidity of one portion of humanity and then the corruption of the other. The article describes a fair case for why pizza would be declared a vegetable - with regulations on food in school it means one of the favourite dishes, like pizza, would be cut back and losses in profit for food companies. So, making pizza a vegetable subverts the regulations. At least so the article argues.
If this is all utter male cow poop, then of course, you can't always trust everything parts of the media says. I did a little digging and found The Washington Post has an article, which has claims contradicting what the linked article says.
The argument is about the nutritional value of tomato paste, which is fair enough, however, the downside to it, tomato paste is high in calories and I think something like that should be emphasised...after all, the US, like the UK and other parts of the world do have an obesity problem.

So if the OP's article is poop, I think there's still somewhat an issue.
I use tomato paste for pasta and meatballs, so I've got a good source of protein and carbohydrates on top of the tomato paste, but I wouldn't suggest that pasta and meatballs is going to help me with weight loss.

But still, I would eat it once in a while.
