The link to the August 2007 Directx 9.0c SDK is broken on this Web Page:

http://www.thegamecreators.com/m=view_product&id=2128&page=download

Can somebody fix the link or provide another URL to use to download the needed DirectX version.

Thanks

Neither of these two links appear to be SDK. Is there an alternative to dxsdk 9.0 august 2007?

Are you looking for the one for DGK and DBPro?

By SDK do you mean the one with the DirectX model viewer? or just the one supported by DBPro/GDK?

What I'm referring to is the Directx 9.0c SDK August 2007 that the link on this page is pointing to:
http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2128&page=download

The link takes you to MS of course and it appears to have been removed. So - if it isn't available from MS - and the link that Rudolpho was kind enough to suggest points to the same place, I'm thinking that MS has just decided that we don't need it anymore - just as mistsnake suggested.

So - is there a work-around for using VS 2008 + Dark GDK with another version of Directx SDK?

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812

that appears to be the oldest available from their site, I do however have...

directx_9c_Jun05sdk_redist.exe

but that is the 2005 sdk... and is just 33.4MB in size...

I also found this...

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23549

lemme know if these work...

Yeah, they're Aug09 and Jun10 but it seems anything earlier has been pulled by Microsoft and even now they're asking for validation to download the SDK's...

Well,
That one is June 2009 - and I did try it. I've also tried June 2010, but to no avail. All the documentation clearly reads August 2007 ONLY. I don't know who to communicate with at Microsoft - which seems to be the only source for that Directx SDK. If there's not a work-around to make Dark GDK work with a later version of Directx I guess I'm without a solution.

Does the DarkGame Studio have the right Directx in the bundle or does it rely on Microsoft for distribution as well?

Thanks for trying MrValentine

Well I was wondering which version you are looking for... the actual SDK or the redist, they are two very different things...

you can fine the DGS DirectX version for redist on my blog just look for it in the orange bit at the top where it says >here< in white

hope this helps...

I presume my last post has not been approved yet, but as I do not want to forget posting this possible vital information, here goes...

I did a quick forum search below for DirectX SDK and found...

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=180309&b=22

which had a link to this...

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=176637&b=22

which featured this download...

http://samoatesgames.com/downloads/TGC/DGDK_2010_(DX_June_2010)_02-11-2010.zip

it is a recompiled version of the 2010 June SDK for GDK... maybe this can be of some use to you?

I have also begun an archive process for every DirectX Redist / DirectX SDK I can find as it looks like MS have decided not to host them any longer... if you have any of the 2006 / 2007 SDKs please let me know.

EDIT

OH YAY I did not actually double post, and my post moderation has ended yay

Well, I'm feeling a little defeated here... Unless Microsoft comes back with an "OOPS, we didn't mean to take that down" then I guess i'm SOL...

I had already looked at that bit and on the surface, it looks like it will work - but even with the recompiled versions - they're recompiled to work with VS 2010 and they too require the same Directx 9.0c SDK August 2007.

All the fun I thought I was about to have playing with this stuff has suddenly turned into a bust for me.

Thanks for all of your efforts MrValentine!

Not to worry... I have my fingers crossed that they are probably just updating their repositories... That is my hope anyway...

I have over 3GB in DX variants including various SDKs and will continue to build upon it soon... I am also collecting .net frameworks so if anybody has anything please let me know

I also strongly advise that you all go and download vs2008 and 2010 express editions quickly... As it looks like they will also be removed soon...

I can zip up my installed august 2007 folder if you like (note "installed"; I don't have the actual installer sitting around). It would take about 350-400Mb though so it'd be a slow process with my 100Kb/s upload limit.

Would it still register?

That was something I was wondering...

I think it needs to be installed via an msi...

But if the dxviewer worked then sure! Please do... Thanks...

Yeah, I did the same with my Aug 2007 installed. Gawd knows what MS are up to, and it seems very fishy and maybe doing the same as Adobe, but I'm grabbing what I can now.

May I also point out that the VC++ 2008 express link is outdated?
