I have been doing some research of various versions of Basic. I am wondering if there are any plans to upgrade the Dark Basic (Professional) Core.

What I would like to see are some of the missing commands that are almost universal in modern Basic bought to Dark Basic. Including the following:

MID$( [String Name] , [Start] , [Length] )
ELSEIF
SGN [ number ]

Plus Some sort of simple error trapping.
Plus Random File Access.
Optional Parameters on Functions

64 Bit, Direct X 11, and modern Hardware support.

I know a few of these are in the Matrix Utilities, but should be in the Dark Basic Core. I would not suggest making Dark Basic over bloated like Visual Basic.Net has become. I do want to see Basic programming kept simple where we don't have several commands doing a similar thing.

I did see Elseif is part of AppGameKit Basic. I can write some very complicated pieces of programming logic. I know we can also use Select:Case:EndSelect to do a similar job. Sometimes I have to do secondary conditions attached to some cases.

I feel if too much time goes by without a major update to Dark Basic Core structure, many people may abandon it when some other company provides a more powerful version of Basic that works with graphics.

What's wrong with the DB Pro Mid$?

I would like Sync(No). So that you can multitask the sync updates for separate objects.

Object Sync Obj No, 1

Sync(1)

Then you can have animations that update whilst other things are going on. Maybe you could update half of the objects in your game for more speed too.

MID$( Source String, Start Position, Size)
is included in the IanM's Matrix1DLLs
together with SGN() and SET ERROR FUNCTION !

And plenty other functionnalities!
