======================== The Game ========================

This game is set around becoming the ultimate Leader and king of the land of Ashguard in a MMORPG World. There are a total of ten factions

Lore(updated 28/04/2013):

Latest on The Empire:

The beginning:
The World came into existence by the Creator and the Destructor fighting one another. The sword crashed together and the clash was so strong that fragments of the weapons fell of and formed together to create the world. The Destructor was then cut and the blood spilt onto the fragments to form the dark as the sweat of the Creator formed life.

Witch Hunting:
Witch hunting is done thought the empire. The Emperors do employ professional hunters to track them down which are usually accompanied by solders called Templars which wear heavy, thick armour to sustain the heavy damage witches inflict. They do this by rounding up villages and checking their wrists for a mark of Helrath. This appears when a person has been within 6ft of a witch. This happens because it is the dark feeding on the living leaving a mark.


These races are the under your Command.You pick which will fade and which will Rise.It's your choice!

like I said in the other thread.. this looks awesome!

risking that I'm repeating myself (the first time was as a joke..^^): If you really intend this to get big... you might really want to reconsider the title. Bethesda had accused "Notch" Persson (creator of Minecraft) for copyright infringement for working on an rpg which he called "Scrolls" - and they claimed that people might confuse "Scrolls" with "The Elder Scrolls", Bethesda's flagship series of fantasy RPGs, which are also FIRST-PERSON (Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim..)!
Rumor has it that Bethesda is working on an Elder Scrolls MMORPG -- ... And if they sue a game called Scrolls, I'm pretty sure they would try to get you for calling your MMORPG "Scrolls of *E*...". They might even accuse you of stealing ideas from them (races called "Nords", "Wild Elves", "Dark Elves", "High [Elves]", "Orcs"), having it in a setting called "The Empire", a war with the "High Elves" (part of Skyrim lore).
Now, every sensible person would say that these ideas, names and concepts are beyond copyrighting, as they are the stock of high fantasy... But law companies claim and say the craziest things these days (Apple, anyone?..)... Might be over dramatizing the issue here, but imagine that your game really did make it and got a respectable player base... imagine how stupid it would be if you were accused of copyright infringement...

But apart from that, I really dig this project and am looking forward to open alpha!

Hi everyone

Here’s some lore in more detail if you’re interested

Yea I know it does sound quite a bit like skyrim lore but it was all the elves and the empire wasn’t formed at that point it was between the Cellcarts and the elves. The High Lords then got bent on power and strength and caused the collapse of the Eleven Alliance, which then allowed the Cellcarts to raze and take land from them forcing the Elves into small pockets. Then there leader Gurbash dies and his four sons fought for his position between there self’s forming into the four different human factions - The Empire, The Nords, The Norcal and the oldest son lead the Cellcart back south. As all this was happening the Iron cal were still deep underground exploring and looking and the Orcs were deep in the jungle in the west (which got wreaked by the increase in size of there growth and violence) and finally The Helrath were claiming The Dark (The hell of Ashguard) and after the Eleven and Cellcart Collapse were given a message from the Dark God Veclar - The god of Death.

P.s New World Order I think the only reason they did threaten Mojang was becuase they treid to copyright the word "scroll" making "The Elder Scrolls" not allowed as a game title, also those races have been used in many other games and books I belive

hey mate, I totally agree that the races are being (and should be) used by all kinds of games and books! Wasn't saying you were copying I think the amount of detail you are apparently putting into your backstory shows that!
Didn't mean to offend you; of course *your* game's title is no one's but *your* business. Just thought I'd repeat how whacky legal departments can get... still... I think this article might be interesting/relevant:

Hi!
unfortunately, when I launch "Tutorial" - "Movement" and then click at the bottom of the screen to start, i get a "could not load sound at line 294" crash.
Also, when I hit "Tutorial" in the main menu, the next screen just flashes for a frame and then automatically selects "Movement". Maybe you could add a timer based delay between mouseclicks to prevent that? (ie. only register a mouse click if it is at least 100 milliseconds AFTER the mouse was last pressed)
But like the idea of the camera move into the town for the menu! Maybe you could smooth out the angles at which the camera turns for the next version (check the curvevalue command). Pretty excited about this Looking forward to a fix (or just say what the filename of the sound is at line 294, I'll copy another sound and rename it accordingly!)

Hi New World,

Yea I love the background idea I had, Im going to have it so it goes through the door of a building and end up under the ocean an then slowly splashes out and goes along the a ship which is sailing out then through the captain counters and when it goes through the window at the back of the quarters and into a massive siege battle as the offence army is about to charge. Plus there is a way of selecting the basic combat and thats by tapping the mouseclick at the moment


Finally there is the name of the sound is Slabstep1.wav and the route to find it is Sounds/Movement/Footsteps/Stereo/Slabstep1.wav inside the media file

sounds are still not there .. also it tells me that the media.zip was created on June 15.^^
How about you make a zip containing the .exe and all required files and give it an easy-to-identify name? (there are 3 exes in the folder at the moment..)

Yepp, that did it!

Looks pretty cool! I like the weapon models in particular =)

I'm sure you know about most of these issues, but I'll just write down what bugs I noticed during playing:
- Collision doesn't work reliably yet. I could just walk through the wall where you would have to croch/go prone
- Character is moving as fast when crouched or prone as if he were walking normally (maybe should slow that down)
- the climbing didn't work at all... well.. it did, kind of. I hit "2", looked at the brick, hit E and Q (i think it was those keys..). Then the tutorial ended, but I didn't actually *climb*
- The loading screen for the combat tutorial is the same as for movement (same text)
- After I pick up the sword, it says I should attack with Right Mouse Button, when its really LEFT Mouse Button.
- If I attack after hitting "1" (I guess attack-mode? displays a sword as crosshair), the hands/sword doesn't play the attack animation
- Some audio feedback would be nice to indicate whether you hit the target or not
- After breaking ONE dummy, nothing happened. After breaking 4, I got the message about "going prone" from the movement tutorial

[edit - the combat tutorial doesn't end. Can only destroy 6 of the 7 dummies.
That's all I noticed! But apart from that it's looking really nice!

Good to hear it's working well, made alot of mistakes in putting it up (I blame lack of sleep becuase im so excited to finsh this game). All the bugs you mensinoed I do already know about I just wanted feedback asap Also there is sound feedback now and alot more now which will be in the next demo.

P.S. The Combat tutorial isn't finshed yet

Finally I will hopefully do an update each day just download the exe in the same location as the zip

Well no becuase it automaticly equits it to your right hand when you pick one up and there nothing in that hand.

Also I added all weapons are usable and crossbows can be pre-loaded allowing for quick one time uses in danger (e.g. your walking along a road and you loaded your crossbow before going out and some one jumps in front of you, you can just take it out and shoot)

i seen you didnt used the AdvUpdater yet.
cuz with advupdater all that needs is to updater your gameplay folder in your local pc, then everyone else automaticly will recive the last updates. no need to use google docs for that..

why? what it says?
how hard it could be?
write your game name, suggesting to write a small version of your game name.
"The Scrolls of Eithador The Great War" to TSOETGW
then type the password twise.
select the Free 500MB storage and press Register.

then it will get you to the login page automaticly. write the same password you did earlier and thats all.

thats the quality i want to see out of DBP

btw, i tried your game demo you puted on google documents or whatever.

i found some stuff that i didnt liked:

- collision works only on W key pressed, and its not sliding collision
- the textures and the whole map is very messy.
- C key for sit rly hard to follow, i cant understand how long i should press the key to sit right. its not working pretty good

and about the game size: 450 mb of game for what? i dont see how is it possible that 1 texture, 1 object map can be 450mb of game size.

There are tutorials in that pack at the moment and it got alot of extra files for other parts of the game which you can't access yet becuase it isn't far along in development and about collision I suck at it at the moment, im working on that soon Completely diffrent compared to dark basic classic. About the first tutorail im going to update it soon.

at the moment i found in your game folder files that are checked as Read-Only and some files that are empty. both of those giving to my AdvUpdater some trouble with reading them. but i fixing it right now.
lets say on the next version of the advupdater it will all work

if i remember right, at sparky collision there is REALLY simple sliding collision example. try it.

in short, to setup the collision, here are the steps:
1) u have to create a collision structure (after u load the object)
2) make put sparky sync command before the dbp's sync command
3) then all you do is telling the sparky collision the X,Y,Z positions of object BEFORE the movement and AFTER the movement. sparky will return the new XYZ positions of your object supposed to be after it collides.
4) after u recived the new X,Y,Z positions from sparky, u appliying it to your object (in your case, u have to set your camera as object, cuz collision can work only on objects)

I dont see any difference to the pack textures...in what way are these improved?

Besides: your crossbow bolt shows a black plane
