jordi,

your site is installing a "System Progressive Protection" virus under an Adobe Flash Player Installation guise. i had this virus a month ago after visiting your site (it was called "Live Security Platinum" then) and forgot about it until i returned following this most-recent post... (yeah, i feel like a fool walking right back into it).

it took me hours to get rid of it last time (i'm expecting a little less time, now) but you need to know that your site is passing this virus along...

it's a shame 'cause your games rock :/

add: running the antivirus now. the virus is:

PUP.BundleInstaller.Somoto
PUP.MyWebSearch

for those that get hit themselves, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can take care of it.

update: wasn't so bad getting rid of it this time (it appears)...

Hello guys,

@kordman916
Yes, the game was deleveloped with DarkBasic Professional.

@Virtual Nomad
My website has a virus? Oh my God!

You're the first that tell me that my site has a virus, because everytime I enter to my site I not detect any problem.

And my friends and other people who visit the website haven't warned me about any problems.

Can you detail me more about how appears the virus?
What web address appears the virus?

Thanks and sorry

I hope to find the problem and fix it.

The game looks great by the way.

Thanks That Guy John,
I'm glad you like the game.

And happy to know that the "virus", could be a false positive.

I've revised all the web code (it's all written by me) and I've tested on different S.O. (Windows 7 and Windows XP) with different explorers ( I.E , Firefox, Chrome, Safari ) with Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast, Malwarebyte and more, and nothing appears.

I do really like the visuals of your game!

Looks fantastic!

I see improvement since your original demo.
Design layout is very nice. Controls seem a little too sensitive.
Maybe I just need to get used to them.
I noticed that it does not survive a lost D3D device, such as control-alt-delete.
I thought it was a requirement for intel app store.

Yes, the finish version is quite different from the first demo I did.

About the "control-alt-delete" is not a requirement for Intel AppUp.
This is my 12th game published on Intel AppUp and never they sent me a issue about it.

Hi Jordi

I downloaded the demo for this over the weekend and have been really enjoying it, although for the life of me I can get any better than last place!

I agree that the controls could be a little better as it's far to easy to over steer by I'm getting used to it and my times are getting faster. It might actually be a good sign that it takes a little practice otherwise it could make the game too easy.

I also found the way the car tracks the height of the track to be far too hard (if that's the right word). I felt the changes in height of the car were far too abrupt and it could have done with some "springyness" or cushioning to smooth it out a bit. You wouldn't have had to change the track but rather the way the car follows the height. Hope that makes sense.

However, most of these are minor niggles, the game looks fantastic and I've really enjoyed playing the demo so I created a desura account and bought the full the version.

I've just played the high speed oval track and was very please that I came third on my first attempt, so there's hope for me yet.

I love F-Zero! One of the best racing games every made IMO (besides Mario Kart maybe). F-Zero GX was my favorite of the series, just because of the innovative way the gravity is made relative and the graphics are fantastic.

Gave your game a shot, here's my feedback.

Did you use relative mouse movement? It feels a lot like it, if not then ignore this, but it's much better to use absolute coordinates (position pointer at mousex(), mousey() rather than moving it according to mousemovex(), mousemovey()).

The menu had some nice graphics, but didn't feel intuitive. It took some time to get used to.

The layout of the controls are good and easy to remember. The sensitivity of the controls are way too high, I couldn't even make one turn without hitting a wall, even after about 10 minutes of playing. The problem I see is that the user overestimates where the car is going to be. You should significantly decrease the time it takes for the car to "balance" itself again after you let go of the steering keys.

An option to make the camera higher, or at least a little further behind the car would be good. The vehicle currently takes up too much of the screen and the angle is too flat, this makes it too hard to react to the track.

Nothing to complain about the graphics, I especially like the distorted reflection when you turn on the raining weather. Nice job!

And what would a F-Zero game be without a boost? Loved using that, even if it meant my certain demise.

I enjoyed the demo. I really like the visual style of the levels. The vehicles look interesting and the special effects are what you'd expect to see in a commercial game. The textures are a bit low resolution, but that seems to help boost the performance, as it runs really smoothly.

The GUI looks well polished, but it could do with a few minor alterations; for example, after exiting the race into the main menu, the forward button on the right is used as the back button, to me left is always back when reading towards the right.

I will have to agree with TheComet's feedback. I spent most of the experience hitting walls; and turbo is more like suicidal overkill; the vehicle appears to be travelling fast enough as it is without turbo.

Nice one!

Thanks to all

I'm very very happy to read all of your opinion.

I'm going to take note of all your suggestions to improve the game.
Are small details easy to solve.

About the sensitivity of the cars, I must say that the first cars are more difficult to drive and the new cars are better.

My idea is based on Ridge Racer games where the first cars have bad settings and the new cars are much better, more fasters and more easy to drive.

Thanks again for all comments because are very important for me

Hi Virtual Nomad,

Well, at this time, the game only supports XBOX360 controller.

But if some people would like to use other gamepads, I could try to add support for generic gamepads in a new game update.

Has anyone won the race in the demo? I keep coming last , although I have only played it a few times.

Hey Jordi, congratulations on this excellent piece of software

If you let me, I would like to ask about the development for Windows 8.

You have used DBPro and at the same time you have been able to implement Windows 8 sensor reading. How have you done this? Thru a custom .dll call perhaps?

The know-how related to Sensors, Windows 8 and DBPro would be a great contribution for the community. No secret that these are the new emerging trends for games.

At the same time, it shows that DBPro can actually produce up-to-date software, with sensor & touch control, even if it is DX9 based. That is great news for all of us.

As a side note related with this, I do not really use DBPro. I'm working with DGDK to make it work with Windows 8 sensors, but there is some trouble with the DX9 SDK library version, August 2007, because it is too old for Windows 8 SDK. Since DGDK uses August 2007 DX SDK, the source code needs to be re-compiled and that's where the problems begin...

DBPro uses the same DX version than DGDK I was wondering how did you achieve that outstanding inclinometer/accelerometer sensor reading...

Other than that, keep on the good work! And best luck with those competitions!

Saludos!

Hello (Hola! ) Morcilla

Well, all my games are made with DBpro and all run on Windows 8 perfectly. The only problem I've detected is the depth color.

For Windows 8, I need to use 32bits of color depth, because 16bits causes strange errors.

About sensors, I've made my own DLL to read sensors data. In this game I read the accelerometer info to control the car moving your device.

It's my first time using VS C++ and I don't know how to make a "beautiful" DLL for DBpro to share with all because with VS C++ Express is not possible to make "beautiful" commands.

I've used my DLL with a "dirty command" like this "call dll(W8DLL,"?acceleroX@@YAHXZ")"

About DARKGDK, I've try it on Windows 8 and work well (basic samples) but my C++ level is very very very low.

I prefer to use AppGameKit because now is possible to read all Windows 8 sensors and all touch screen capabilities, load 3D models and the game is portable to other platforms like Apple or Android.

With DBpro or DGDK the games only run on Windows

Yes, I could add more poly on stage, but this game can run on a netbook and more polis could be reduce the frame rate.

In my next racing game, I will try to improve graphics.
