Hi guys,

I've just started a new youtube channel at www.youtube.com/teachyourselfstuff and a new site at www.teachyourselfstuff.com which is still under development.

Part of the new video series I'm producing is App Game Kit TekTips, as I learn tricks with the language myself I'll write them up, record and post them to that new youtube channel along with my ususal video tutorials.

This video appears to be a little soft, and might be a little difficult to read, but I've included the full source code in the video description so you can grab it there if you need too.

The text is very clear at 720p.

Good idea - well done!

Here's the second video, I've fixed the encoding bug that was making youtube video's soft after they converted it. 720p should how be crisp and clear.

This video demonstrates how to create a simple placeholder sprite.

Awesome videos Daniel! It's great that we now have a thread we can direct newcomers to AppGameKit and programming to.

P.S Your voice sounds similar to David Attenborough's (meant as a compliment ), especially towards the end of the second video.

Compliment taken, now all I need is some wildlife to monitor...

I've produced another 5 videos, they are scheduled to release themselves every day at 6 pm.

Going by the number of video hits these are getting I'm going to cease writing and producing these. AppGameKit videos in general do quite poorly so I'll focus on other langauges.

Daniel , I enjoy the videos but a year + after the products launch they are probably too basic for the larger part of the bell curve audience.

I imagine there are always a trickle of new users but those of us who've been using it for a year or so may find more advanced videos to be more useful.

Things that might get more hits (off the top of my head)

- 3d tutorials
- networking tutorials
- physics tutorials
- particles
- animation ragdoll sprite tutorials

- other medium to advanced topics

Naturally you've done a lot of videos maybe I'm wrong But Id probably watch the topics I just mentioned more myself!

Thanks as always though your videos have helped me many times!

I hear what you are saying, usually when there's a call for this sort of thing users send me messages on youtube, or request in comments. I'm not seeing anything like that here. I also find the more advanced tutorials usually do worse than the basic tutorials. I've found this with the DarkBASIC Professional tutorials (which has been out for years). My spinning cube example has about 48,000 hits, while my mathematical examples barely pass a couple of thousand (lerps, orbital paths, interpolation, shaders, etc do quite poorly). Even my past complete game tutorials have not done that well.

Odd, I would have thought shader support would have been more popular than that. Perhaps AppGameKit is a little new, I have no idea of the user base yet, but I would imagine it is nowhere near say, Dark Basic Pro yet. Hopefully as AppGameKit grows, more people will watch your vids.
I do agree that you might want to make them a little more appealing. You may want to do a game example that runs over several parts, I imagine most newbies would be more interested in a game to develop than basic exercises. Who didn't skip past the basics to start out on a game when they first started? You can still include the basic things, but hide them behind a game.

@ daniel

Thanks you for the mention but its I should thank you for your videos. I enjoy and learning from them especially this new one for AGK. You video on setting up android is very helpful. When I use AppGameKit search on youtube i get something called the angry german kid...i use app gaming kit for my videos.

i also brought the kindle book for freedom engine but use it for agk, you planning for any more. i still learning and trying to get the hang of agk...i got a lot ideas for games but can't get no where..i got some ideas by reading watching videos like yours. i have a game development but stuck on logic or writing the code , i got the the idea how it should work but don't know how to convert into code.

i got another tip on splitting you editor into different section for example im my game i make one part then into the main game part of the game.

when you hold down the left mouse button down the those little tab, it will change to across arrows. while holding down you move around which will be a lite blue transparent color were you move around. if you want i can make video in spare time hopefully on the weekend. the pic is the result.
