I have seen posts about Ouya (http://www.ouya.tv/) and Game Stick (http://www.gamestick.tv/). I have been watching these with interest as I think they could provide great opportunities for AppGameKit users, If properly supported.

However I have just seen these devices, Android TV sticks. There seem to be many types and are readily available on E-bay e.g.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Android-4-1-Media-Player-Internet-TV-BOX-Cloud-Stick-2-Core-4-GPU-3D-HDMI-/390553168976?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Internet_TV_Media_Streamers&hash=item5aeec86c50

or just search Android TV stick. You can buy them for as little as £20

Has anyone Tried them ?
Are they any good ?
Do all or any of them work with AppGameKit ?
If they work with AppGameKit - does an attached Keyboard/ mouse just work like on a PC ?
Any other thoughts about them ?

I would be using AppGameKit BASIC (Tier 1) version.

I've got a MK802 TV-stick.

It's fairly nice for the price, I think. I use it as a mediacenter essentially. The wifi is a bit laggy at times but otherwise no big problems. I haven't tried running my own apps on it yet but I could give that a whirl. Mouse and keyboard works, just plug in the USB. I usually use Droidmote instead but it all works.

I am not sure but I think all Android devices uses keyboard input and bluetooth. I suspect anything we make in AppGameKit will run on these devices as long as they have Android 2.3 or better. Attached is a photo of me using Gametel with my game Rush to Adventure. There are many such devices now. Most of the buttons works right out of the box (once installed) and I can configure it to whatever buttons I want. If you are using stings like arrow keys, space, enter and esc in your game, I think you are pretty much set on any Android device.

With Ouya and Gamestick there are probably going to be a few extra things that we need. Like full support for the controller and any type of monetizing. I wonder how well Gamestick will do. They don't have the same backing as Ouya. And once you buy all the accessories it's actually more expensive than Ouya. I have seen a few games on both and I think it's very likely that a lot of games will be released for both. I also like Ouya's requirement that all games must be free to try. Ouya is probably the more powerful one. Running on Tegra 3 means you can play any Tegra specific games and it has a fan to cool the CPU.

Demo 3 is out now!

Thanks lilpissywilly, Like the look of the MK802 IV.

Would be great if you could try an app on yours and see if mouse and keyboard works with it (your app), before I make a purchase.

Digital Awakening, Good to know Input devices seem to work fine. Your game looks great. I also think the Ouya at the moment looks the most promising - and their controller looks fantastic.

MarKus, Yes, I have seen some people have problems with WIFI and lilpissywilly says his is laggy at times. These are tiny devices with a lot packed in there - not much room for an aerial. As far as I have read as long as you are within 3 Meters of your router it is not too bad. You can also seem to use a USB - Ethernet cable

Overall - If I can be sure they work with AppGameKit I will get a MK802 IV, otherwise I will buy a cheep one on E-bay and see if it works for myself.

No probs. I tried the MK802 now with an app using 108B9 that uses 3d and shaders without problems. It seemed to perform around where my old Samsung Galaxy S1 performs in terms of FPS running this particular app. And that's a pretty slow S1 that's shock full of apps and garbage. Keyboard not tested but I'm positive it works.
