I was just wondering if there will be a 108.12 that fixes the compilation problem in 108.11? I have clocked the times with Rush to Adventure. In 107.6 it takes 8 sec. With 108.11 it takes 32 sec to compile. That's 4 times as long! I just can't work with 32 sec compilations.

I agree - we need this fixed. 108.11 Compile times are ridiculously slow. 4 times slower for me too.

Any date for beta 12 ?
I would really nead it as it takes forever to write the enemy ai with the slow compile times

er, why the change in the first place? I had assumed that all of the add ons over time simply slowed down compile time. What exactly are the benefits of the current compiler?

They probably havent optimized the compile with all the new additions to get it as fast as possible.
And probably have some slow safety checks while they add stuff to the beta.

The compiler was modified to make it suitable for Freedom Engine, now that that is no longer a concern we can go back to the older, faster version.

Doesn't feel slow to me. I have thousands of lines of code spanning multiple files and it only takes a few seconds.

I just timed my 5000+ lines of code t1 app (using beta 11) and it took 19 seconds, this is spanning 23 files.
Just to let you all know

The current compiler takes 4 times as long as the previous one. With over half a minute to compile I don't use it.

Well, hooray for that. But I need the faster TIER 1 compiler back right now; not "two weeks from now", not "two months from now".

Let's get it back ASAP! I don't give a darn about Freedom Engine compatibility, I need a TIER 1 compiler that doesn't crawl through my source at a snails pace.

"4 times as long" - this estimate is roughly correct on my PC also. And with a project that has well over 20000 lines of code in total, that's a LONG compile.

And I'm not boasting about the size of my source code. At this line count, it's a small project.

(Besides, the number of source code lines tells nothing about how well designed the code is, which is what developers always forget to discuss when "comparing sizes".)

But... the current 108.11 compiler is just dead stop slow.

Cheers,

I hope this is just some temporary glitch that happened while building the latest 108.12 Beta,
but the faster compiler didn't make it to 108.12. It's still just as slow as it was in 108.11, and
that includes all of the same compiler bugs as 108.11 had. Hmmz!

Cheers,

AgentSam:
Did you uninstall 108.11? Have you tried rebooting your PC? I had some weird collisions with 107.6 and 108.11.

Edit:
Apparently an old version was uploaded. Download it again

I have just tested 108.12 and it's great to have the faster compiling back!

Thanks Paul - great work.
