Yes, I know Xbox One is hated now, but none of that matters because Microsoft is in the process of changing it's policies and also because of "Marketing" after launch.

However, in it's first year every Xbox One can be a full on development kit and this includes Kinect, Xbox Live, Cloud functions and full on Self Publishing.

It seems if you are going to do a D3D port, this should be a priority over the next year or so. Please read the source link. This is *** HUGE ***.

So, Microsoft is doing another 180. Sony is already allowing self publishing. Not sure about the dev-kit thing. But Microsoft is well known for being hard to work with for indies.

Xbone and PS4 support is something that could be nice down the road. But I as a paid for update once v2 is released.

i would say yes but then i would say no
why?

first, Microsoft.
second, the Idea of AppGameKit is to work with Mobile Devices... the Mac and Windows support is just a bonus..

if AppGameKit will move onto XboxOne and Ps4 please do not do it until the end of the current tasks since we are already counting with our projects on the mobile markets ...
there is no need to rush theres actually more money on the mobile markets then on XboxOne and the Ps4 all together.
it could be nice but... i dont know it just dosent feel right.. like a hunch..

No. This needs to be done. Period. @markus you do it to make writing code for these platforms easier. @haliop its another avenue to publish on. That is all. Push your game out to as many places as you can. The only way to win people over is to give them any avenue to play your game on. Come out on one platform only and you just cut your potential players by a huge margin.
Don't say no. Say YES! to this.

It sounds great in theory. However, unless Microsoft have changed their policy on costing, probably not an option for most of us. For instance, it used to cost 10k to release an update on xbox live. That has been changed, but I imagine there will be a cost to release. If 10k was an update cost, I dread to think what the initial release cost was. If they have reduced, or preferably totally removed any cost, then it would be very nice. I doubt however it will be free to release an xbox one title.
As some people are saying, best to get it working with current machines at the minute. TGC is not a massive company that can easily add something like this quickly.

@markus - ? I don't exactly understand the point you were trying to make.

@Dvader - I understand but at the same time if TGC were to do this, imagaine who they may attract attention. Some of the bigger Game Studios that can fund this stuff? Its Win/Win for all. Even if some of us can't publish to XBOne/PS4 due to costs which may or may not prevent us from being able to do this. The Kickstarter may get a bigger boost. And if we can't do it this round, there's always Kickstarter Round 2

@ XanthorXIII, your name reminds me of the some of the dragons names in Guards! Lol, a Discworld novel, but I digress. I agree, it would be a great addition regardless. However for most of us, we will be happy for current platforms to work 100%, and don't want TGC's focus altered! Of course once it is all running nicely on them, this would be welcome by all I imagine!

that was the opposite in the past. the only thing sony is doing is to look at microsoft policies and reverse it in announcement to make themselves look right.

sometimes i feel that there is a marketed war against microsoft while they are the most comfortable products to work with.

Hi,

We are of course aware of this and will see what they announce in August. I think they realise that Indies are key to their business. if they make it hard for Indies then Google and Apple will take them all.

For now TGC have V2 to work on. That's enough for our small team and we'll see where the land lies later.

There's no rush on this. The details are hazy to say the least.

But I suspect a DX back-end would be needed.

I agree there's no rush on this. If we can't fit it in now, run another Kickstarter for V3. PS4 and XBOne still have to be released!
Don't forget the Vita

@DVader - I need to read those books sometime. The name comes from a character I created on Phantasy Star Online. I wanted something with Thor in it and added the Xan in front and the XIII behind that to make it look unique.

@ XanthorXIII, if you like a bit of humor, there well worth a look.
@ basjak, as far as Sony is concerned it is a war, lol. Microsoft have been slowly increasing their market share since the Xbox and have seriously dented Sony's dominance of the sector.
I'm not sure if it will come out or is just vapourware at the moment, but there are rumours of Valve making a console also!
