Amazon have a free testing service to see if your app will be ok on the Fire series of tablets:

Thats quite clever marketing... I like how they explicitly state that its 'Free' testing, when in reality, its all part of the verification process. Any and all apps submitted to Amazon get tested, much like what Apple do...

Yeah its decent... And just as an FYI, I loaded my app to Amazon and experienced no issues what-so-ever. If it works on any relatively new Android device, you can be pretty sure it'll work on a Kindle Fire as well...

I was fortunate enough to receive a free Kindle HDX for sticking Amazon ads on one of my apps in a recent promotion, although I have yet to try AppGameKit on it.

I have loaded my APK files onto my Kindle Fire, using Dropbox, and it works fine. This seems like a nice offer though. Thanks for sharing Jim!

My biggest problem with the Kindle is getting screenshots. Haven't been able to figure that one out yet.

I published dFenz on the Amazon App store. It was a breeze.
Unfortunately we don't have IAP support for them and I just confirmed with Paul that it won't be coming anytime in the foreseeable future (same thing with Samsung IAP).
If you guys are interested in IAP for Samsung store and Amazon stores then maybe you could send Paul or Lee a note and let them know that I'm not the only one who wants it

Not really a problem at T2 - but ignoring Amazon would be a bit dim!

It seems like we might not even need to do anything in the c++ files for this, but instead just modify AGKHelper.java to suit the respective IAP APIs. I'll be looking in to it over then next couple of months. Right now I'm busy getting our new keyboard UI implemented and revamping some of our other UI elements.

Jim

Hi mate, how goes it?

Thanks for the heads up...sounds good. It seems to make a change nowadays that there is a service that is simple and works....

And as you quite rightly pointed out....any fools wanting to 'ignore' amazon, with 144million ACTIVE customers - even if only a small percentage are buying apps....that is a HUGE potential market........are indeed fools!

Jim, have you invested in V2...thoughts (as if i did not know LOL).

I agree that Amazon is an important market. I have one app on there (non-AGK) and it gets more downloads and reviews than the same app on Google Play. So many tablets do not include Google Play but instead depend on Amazon as the go-to app store. Amazon's IAP and perhaps also its ad network would be beneficial for AppGameKit to support, and I like to believe it wouldn't be too drastic of an update since it's still all Android under the hood.

Paul said we should be able to do so by modifying the IAP functions in AGKHelper.java
It's probably not that hard. I'll be trying it out in a month or two, but if someone else wants to try it out before then, be my guest!

Did a bronze! More out of kindness than expectation - I don't think everlasting alphas and betas represent a mature product.

And as Paul Johnston said in one of my threads:

Quote: "Paul Johnston: We had no problems with Amazon and a 300MB+ APK."

Which can't be said for the Google Play store, which limits you to 50MB on the main APK!

Submitted my FIRST APP to Amazon yesterday!!

It is still in a pending stage, but I will let everyone know how it goes and will update my WIP thread in the AppGameKit Showcase forum.

My APK is a touch over 89MB, so Google Play was out of the question for me.

Thanks Everyone for all of your help and suggestions!!

Cool! We put dFenz on Amazon App Store. It had a fair number of downloads from there. Publishing was super easy so it was a no-brainer. Just wish we could use their IAP

What's the process for removing IAP (tier1)? I tested my app and get this message during the test.

Quote: "Your APK includes a manifest declaration and/or API invocation referring to Google in-app billing services.
Note: Using Google in-app billing is supported by the Amazon Appstore on non-Kindle devices. You can submit your APK without fixing this issue, but your app will not be displayed in the Amazon Appstore as being compatible with Amazon devices."

and this one

Your APK includes a manifest declaration and/or API invocation referring to Google Cloud Messaging.

JohnnyMeek, if you don't need the Facebook stuff, then you can use the 'lite' version of the AppGameKit Android stuff. It doesn't have the IAP bits in it.

OK, Thanks I'll check out that version.

Though in the readme.txt file for that version, it just says it has facebook and push notification missing.

Quote: "The interpreter_android_lite project is a lite version of the interpreter_android project that does not include Facebook or Push notifications (otherwise known as Google Cloud Messaging), this simplifies the build process somewhat if you do not need these commands."

Do Amazon still charge an annual developer fee? I couldn't find any info about this on their website.

Mac submission approved.

The submission process for the Mac version on the Amazon store was very quick. 2 days.

I finally got round to building my Android app with the prebuilt lite version, and it does still include the in app billing.

What's the process for removing this? I have had so few downloads on Google Play compared to iOS so I would really like to give Amazon a try.

Open the manifest file and you should see a permission for google billing (or something like that). I'm replying from my mobile so cannot be more specific at the minute, but remove that permission and you should be all good... I loaded an app last week to Amazon with no issue.

In the Android manifest you should be able to just remove a few lines:

Line 12 (or near)

Line 46

I've not tested this method, but it should do the trick.

I made deleted these items as suggested and successfully submitted my app to the Amazon store.

Thanks.
