Hi, I've been hunting around for about 20 or 30 minutes, but can't seem to find a roadmap outlining the future development of AppGameKit V2. I'm pretty sure there has to be something around here, but I can't find it.

At any rate, I'm working on porting over one of my larger Dark Basic Pro projects and here and there I'm noticing things that I can't yet do or will have to write some big workarounds for in AGK. This is to be expected, but I was hoping to see what was coming down the pipeline next for AppGameKit V2 so I can get a better idea about how feasible rewriting my program is. One of the biggest shortcomings is 3D sound playback, which we don't appear to have support for yet. This isn't a big problem for my port as the old project doesn't do a lot with audio yet, but will be necessary later on down the road when I start working with audio more.

Thanks!

I think it's only available on Kickstarter:

Quote: "
2D Enhancements - October 2013
Ouya & Spine support - End of October 2013
IDE & Compiler update - December 2013
3D - Jan 2014
Physics - Feb 2014
WM8 - May 2014
"

Paul is currently working on OUYA support. After that it's the IDE and Compiler update.

Thank you, I did check out the Kickstarter page and it wasn't as deeply descriptive as I'd have liked, but was helpful! One other big thing I've noticed is the lack of "limbs" and being able to break objects down into their individual parts. We've a long way to go with AppGameKit before it's at the level of DBP in regards to 3D, but it's coming along and is a much better product from what I've seen so far. Fairly easy to port projects so far, too. Looking at the source codes side by side AppGameKit is worlds easier to understand and much cleaner looking.

I also use DB Pro and FPS Reloaded, but I am just starting with AGK. In the monthly newsletter it refers to this future direction, similar to what's going on with FPS Reloaded. My question is this. If I spend $60 on the current version of AppGameKit, what is the upgrade path and cost of the coming new version? Am I better off learning with the current trial version and waiting for the new version?

Thanks

AGK2 is available at a discounted price currently. It will be more expensive at the official release.

You might want to double-check with Rick (send an email to rick@thegamecreators.com), but even if you pledge Bronze for V2 you are supposed to get the complete V1 as a bonus (including all updates). So it's actually even cheaper to pledge Bronze than to order AppGameKit V1 at this point, and you get V1 + V2 as it is developed.
