Hey community!

This post is for posting my engine called Glue Engine. I want some feedback from you guys i am in the middle of development and i need some constructive feedback regarding all the things you want about the engine. I do really appreciate!

Note: This is not a final release or a final product, its not even a beta, expect a lot of bugs!

Thank You!

[edit] Tiffer - you posted at same time as me - I agree, not a good sign, over to the Mods

@MateiSoft Romania,

Err - what does the engine do?

How is it relevant?

Can you post some screenies?

Some examples?

People are naturally nervous of downloading a .rar out of context on a first post...

The warning from Norton seemed fairly decisive that this was infact malware.

As I already mentioned in this thread, I also got some kind of virusy thing from your website.

Maybe you should clean your system up a little (as well as your website of course in case you haven't done that yet). I assume you can get into all kinds of trouble if you distribute malware, even unknowingly (which hopefully is the case).

The screenshots don't look too bad though. So is this going to be somewhat similar to FPS Creator? Or to be more specific, what will be the differences?

I loathe that "WS.Reputation1" warning. If you research it it basically says that "this warning is issued for a file that have been used by less than 5 people, lack security ratings and as such is assumed to be maleficent in nature". Quite the assumption; all new programs have to start out from the bottom after all...

@ShellfishGames
To be more specific i am trying to add functions similar to Unreal Engine The same idea but more easy to use and you can have more power over the virtual world especially on the level design.

That's not what this says.

Quote: "WS.Reputation.1 is a detection for files that have a low reputation score based on analyzing data from Symantec’s community of users and therefore are likely to be security risks. Detections of this type are based on Symantec’s reputation-based security technology. Because this detection is based on a reputation score, it does not represent a specific class of threat like adware or spyware, but instead applies to all threat categories.

The reputation-based system uses "the wisdom of crowds" (Symantec’s tens of millions of end users) connected to cloud-based intelligence to compute a reputation score for an application, and in the process identify malicious software in an entirely new way beyond traditional signatures and behavior-based detection techniques"

Seems to be pretty much what it's saying to me.
I agree, it isn't all to do with newness, but if you put functionality in there that look suspicious, such as altering binary files on the disk or hooking into processes, I find that this happens quite frequently with home made C# applications (oddly enough I've yet to see it happen for anything but a C# app, so it might have something to do with some .NET standard library also).

This application though doesn't alter any of the binary files or so just entering the process as a normal program only using more resources because of the tools Even FPSC - R for some people was detected as a virus btw.

Please post screenshots inline as the beta forum cannot see attachments.

Also, a screenshot of an empty "level editor?" isn't very informative.

Or maybe use img tags??

Sorry to be picky, but as a developer myself, if you don't make the effort to show off your work, people won't make the effort to look at, or use your work.

-Fixed the bug when the editor cameras where not adjusting with the screen.
-New Icons(easy to understand what they do now )
-Core bug fixes such as object not found in the startup code.
-Lighting has been improved.(Placing mechanics also improved)
-Wireframe to the first camera to easily placing objects.
-Grid option, now you can change the precision of the placement(please see the about tab to fully see the engine's controls!)
-Optimized Cube Builder Brush(Note: Right Click on the cube not left click! Right click brings the values to change for the brush)
-Press T on keyboard while hovering an objected created to rapidly on the fly change its texture.
-Press B on the keyboard while selecting the object created with the Cube Brush and select new values.
-Press X,Y or Z on the keyboard to scale the object created with the cube brush(buggy!)

Please visit the About section for HOTKEYS!
The only screenshot i can get is for the UI...mostly the fixes are core fixes...

Glue Engine will have a custom main menu creator and a project manager. In the main menu editor it will be the same scripting as in the engine for programming the ai and events. You can add all elements expected : music, static background, video as background, buttons, menus, labels, picture boxes and lots more and of course you can program each of them to do whatever you want.

Nice progress!
Seem to be an ambitious project
3d editors are challenging to make, it is nice to see an enthusiastic developer..
I'm still working on my basic example making of, but I have some delays....
It will feature: Windowing, Camera control, Gizmo control, entity editing with properties sheets, load texture, save/load scene in xml and more if I have time...

Remstart
Tip: In the font "webdings" there are "media player arrows"

Hey Le Verdier!

Good to see you back! Yes its a very ambitious project. I really want to make this engine to look very awesome, with good mechanics, great graphics, and very easy to use and yes i can't wait to see your example...there are really some functions that i really don't know how to do them.

Appreciate your effort!
