There are a number of tools out there, scattered across this board and also the AppGameKit Showcase board. Please add your tools to this thread and we can make a central reference point for all of them. Examples I'm aware of include FPSC 2 AppGameKit, bitmap font makers and tilemap creators.

Please include:

Tool Name
Description/Purpose
Screenshot
Cost
Download/Purchase link

Here are my humble offerings...

They are all free

Atlas Image Data Generator is a small app designed to make the job of creating the sub-image data file a lot easier, by automating the process where possible and providing the user with an intuitive interface to create and edit the sub-image data.

Download (Windows)

A Handy little utility which can take a normal Windows TrueType font, and work a little bit of magic on it; transforming it into a magnificent full colour bitmap font for you to use *FOR FREE* in your own projects.

This is one of my earlier C# projects, and it\'s a little buggy. I am planning an update in the not too distant future to fix bugs and add one or two cool new features, but first I have a few projects to complete for Android and ultimately iOS as well.

Download (Windows)

PRT allows you to quickly and easy convert pixel values to and from percentages, based on a target screen size.

May I humbly suggest everyone includes platform(s) in their description (like =PROF=), since AppGameKit is a crossplatorm tool itself now!

@unlikely, I have changed my link to describe the platform it is built for. Hope that seems sensible to others.

It wasn't really my idea. I was talking to a longstanding community member about improving AppGameKit with peripheral tools. The most sensible first step was to consolidate what is out there so that we can all benefit from what already exists and concentrate any new efforts on what is missing.

ttf2agk is a script which takes the fonts you have downloaded (or installed) and converts them to .png/subimage.txt format directly. It supports variable border width, drop shadows, and radial, horizontal and vertical 'colour tweening'.

It is a python script/library and can be used programmatically, with batch/shell files or as a command line tool. The command line tool uses a CSS-like styling command set, e.g.

Creates an Arial based font coloured orange to black, top to bottom, with a 1% wide blue border and a cyan dropshadow offset at 5%.

Requires Python and Pillow (Python's Graphics Library) to work. Demos and examples are included (only one file from the repository is actually required for it to work).

It is free and open source.

lib-fontfx is a library for animating fonts in a more simple fashion than AGK2 tweens. Basically it allows you to animate fonts in several ways, and create your own if you are that way inclined. Animations can be chained, looped and modified.

https://github.com/agkdev/library-fontfx

Example, this 'bounces in' a Get Ready message.

Name: AppGameKit Ultimate Toolkit
Price: Free
Purpose: Hi this isn't really a tool, but it might be useful. This is a HTML5 page I coded listing all the entries made in this thread up until now. Stick it on your desktop, and when you can't remember the name of that tool-thingie you need you can just check up.

Include a link back to this forum post so you can check if more have been added!!

Included a special thanks to BatVink for starting this thread.

Sorry CSS is a little screwy, but it's 00:37 and I need to get to bed! I'll fix it on my next run.
