Hello guys,

Which solution is the best for detecting the number of object that my character steps?

I want this for detecting from an array, the type of material that has in order to apply the corresponding sound.

Is raytrace ok? Or should I use the distance formula?

Thank you!

Raytracing sounds like overkill for the simplistic info you want to retrieve. How are you managing collision in your game?

Is it 2d or 3d? If you're trying to detect what object he player is walking over then I would say a ray cast is very much the way to go in 3d.
