If you're interested in working as a group on a community project pop into our discord, disclaimer: This is not a TGC operative discord
It is my hope that we can encourage a group of like minds to cooperatively work on projects together, for highly polished finished games of a scope that are larger than possible to complete as an individual.
If you're interested, click the discord link. https://discord.gg/Vj3pE5Pq

That's a nice idea Smerf. I'm afraid I haven't logged into Discord in a while due to being busy with work but hopefully you will get a good team together.

I have always worked alone as an indie dev. doing just about everything myself.

As I ( and every other indie dev. ) have many amazing ideas that I would love to see completed I have always wanted to work with another like minded ( there can't be another indie dev. with my errrr unique mindset ! ) developer to speed up the process for completing a game.

Ideally someone I can see face to face once in a while to discuss the business and project would be cool.

By the way, the Discord link is invalid.

Would be interested in joining the Discord group though.

I stopped using discord a few months ago for various reasons one of which is that I believe it has split the community between the forums and discord.

So what do everyone else think about creating a small dev. team to produce one amazing game?

Or do we all want to create on our own or with our current other creative devs. without taking that little creative step up the ladder.

Hello,

the thing with the Forum and Discord is just that you can get instant feedback on Discord, you ave a better overview of who is online, you can post polls, have webhooks for Github Updates, partake in a voice/video chat or stream the screen etc..
I know that this is also possible to some degree in a Forum and/or third party websites but with Discord or any other big instant massanger you have it in one package.
And i'm sure we will come back to this Forum to Discuss and post milestones when we have made some more progress.

Among the few people who voted, it turned out that we’ll be making a Sci-Fi Multiplayer FPS.
We use Github and i have contributed a basic Menu and Multiplayer Library and i'm sure there will be some custom shaders when we come that far.
We have some working on 3DSound and a Blender Export/Import Script to place and alter the stuff like the level, lights, sounds, Trigger boxes and more.

So here is a new valid link to the Discord Channel and I wish you all a Merry Christmas !

As far as i know, the goal is to finish a (Sci-Fi Multiplayer FPS) game that shows the capability of AppGameKit with a bunch of people from this comunity.
And we don't have a real deadline.

I feel you on this. Even though I was the one that created the GGClassic discord for TGC originally. I was still quite active on the forums at that time. The community in general isn't that active in GGC or GGMax on forums or Discord. I dont think I've seen more than 15 members chatting at any given time (correct me if I'm wrong) in the GGMax Discord. GGC has/had only 3 to 4 active users left as everyone got "funneled" into GGMax's Discord. Quite a number of people just quit he community outright and moved on to other engines. I have recently left GGC and GGMax Discord myself, partly as I dont really use these engines anymore. There are other reasons too but they are more personal.

When I created the Discord for GGC i had no intention of moving people off the forums. Forums and Chat are completely different animals. For AppGameKit the forums are invaluable. You can get answers to almost any questions from the experts of the past if you make a search on Gemini it will direct you to the forums and the answers to your question immediately. I'm very glad we have the forums as a reference for AppGameKit solutions. I dont like bugging the same few people over and over on the Discord with my "newbie" questions.

@smerf can you set the invite link to have no expiry date? I wasn't able to join.

I currently have 1 project in AGK. Its my last project on a TGC tool. I really hope TGC doesn't drop or minimalism support for AppGameKit Studio, because if that happens I pretty much wont be in the community anymore. I used to very much enjoy the days of FPSC Forums and its community.

@TeaboneI have only been a member of the forums for 4 years but I have seen the number of visitors drop in that time. Personally I think it would have been better to drop Discord and concentrate on the forums.

I hate to say this but now that the forums are closing this will reduce the user base even further and discourage new sales, less sales means even less support. To update Studio to support API 35 needs changes to the IAP code. I don't have the knowledge to do this and I'm not sure TGC do either now that Paul has left. I'm also getting the same feeling about Studio that I had about Classic 12 months ago. I hope I'm wrong. Who knows, perhaps bringing everyone together on Discord could be a positive step, time will tell.

We'll have to see what happens when Google update their requirements later on this year.

Like you mention there doesn't appear to be many users on the GGM Discord either and the majority on there appear to be selling content. I assume that TGC make most of their money from the Driving apps these days and aren't relying on the income from GGM so much.

Should've seen the forum 20 years ago. I could check the forum every hour and always had new posts to read. Discord has its place, but it is no replacement for a forum. It's ok for live chat and collaboration, but useless as any form of archival information. Want to find that code snippet you posted in discord 2 years ago? Hah, forget it!

I think it's sad to see the forum closing down. Hopefully the AppGameKit community can "regroup" in either Discord or elsewhere. But as some have noted here, Discord is better for chat than for looking up past code examples and the like.
