Well, this isn't going very well, the forums are closing, I keep forgetting my password for Syntaxbomb as it will only remember it for a month, no one is using T-Bones new forums.

It looks like it's Discord or nothing... sigh.

There's another option, my forum. There's a few members, nobody has really posted yet but I hope that changes. I've tied it to the existing user system for PurpleToken, the site that offers a free hi-score service several people have used.

https://purpletoken.com/forum/

I opted to not take the easy approach of simply setting up phpBB because simply put I like to code. I do it professionally and its a hobby, plus I always wanted to write my own forum software. I've only created a few boards so far, apart from the backup of this forum which I will more than likely make hidden while the actual tgc forum remains viewable unless they're ok with me having a mirror. It supports most BB tags so far and last night I implemented file attachments. Overall its still a work in progress but gets more functional every day. But it is usable now. I been around a long time actively, but not so long that I'll croak to old age any time soon. My server isn't going anywhere. I'm also open to suggestions for improving the forum.

This is great. Thanks.
Your mirror site can probably implement a better search tool than using a web browser to find in page, an index of posts which my backup currently uses.
I am thinking of writing a search tool to aide in that, but until it happens things are what they are.

You also might host the news letters. Maybe they can be converted to stickied posts or something.

I haven't built the search function yet, but maybe I'll do that next. Soon as I finish edit.

Yeah searching an index using the "find in page" feature of a browser only supports one search term. That's functional, but no ability to cross reference two or more terms.
So there's room of a better option to be offered there. Not to mention how ugly the index looks as a massive long list.
