TGC has announced the forum is closing Feb 10 2025.

Call To Action - Help Wanted!
It is important that we gather up every plugin, every download we can before they become lost forever.
This includes files for other products like FPSC, DarkGDK, AppGameKit, Everything.

It has been an amazing 20+ years. It is sad to see an era end.
I guess we won't be getting that DBP patch we always were asking about!

Do you happen to know who looks after the SyntaxBomb forum? I tried to join a while ago but my account never got activated. When I try to send an email to them it always bounces back with a "probably spam" error - no matter what I put in the message. I was hoping it would take over where this place leaves off. Thanks.

I don't know the operator or have any contact with him. Not even a member of the board since it's been an AppGameKit (and mostly other things) board thus far.

If anyone can get them to open up a section over there for other TGC products, I'll link it on the subreddit!

Hi Mage, I've downloaded v3 of the forums and not all of the pages have been backed up. I.e. in the studio chat forum thread 229731 only has one page instead of 2.

It looks like scrubbing the links on profiles interfered with grabbing additional pages for some threads. So I'll go back to the originals over the next few days and rerun the automation and update the backups.

This affects less than .1 percent of the posts, just to provide perspective.

That's great Mage, thank you. I had ago at writing a vb.net app today to scan the directories into a treeview with the ability to search and then display the webpage in a web viewer built into the app. It's a bit slow at searching so I may try a different approach, perhaps using a datagrid maybe.

The AppGameKit forum is backed up. User emails have been stripped, board index and page links work locally. Only drawback is code snippets don't expand (I forgot to include the script that made them work) They made the code snippet html more complicated than it needed to be. I'll update the files as I get to them along with the rest of the boards. Getting the backups done has become a lower priority for me right now since learning the forum will still be viewable after talking to someone with TGC. They are looking into making attachments accessible once the login system goes away, but no word on when that'll be.

Glad to help. Phaelax has graciously shared a javascript snipet that may be added to the html to allow code blocks to open. So I am looking at the potential of updating the backup a final time to include this.
It would be a final update if so since that is the last lingering issue with the backup.

(This will be sorted out within the next few days if so)
(I don't mean to be constantly updating the backup, and that is coming to an end)

Phaelax provided code to allow code blocks work.
Updated the backup with this enhancement.
Sorry. This should be the final definitive backup.

So now:
multi-page threads are linked together.
Code blocks are working.

i dont think there is actual registration for PT forum yet. i log in to the scoretable side of things and it shows me logged in to the forums there but it's a mock function last time i checked. i know the priority was to back up the forums here and fleshing out phaelax' new forum is gonna be an on-going project.

The PT forum will rely on the existing PT user base. If you don't see a PT registration email check the spam folder. I'm working on tying everything together between my new forum and the rest of PT. The forum is live now but still a work in progress. Rather do the easy thing of installing phpBB, I wrote one from scratch. File upload and and language syntax for code snippets is still being worked out but BB codes should all (mostly) work. I'm not sure if I supported list items yet or not. I've been debating on what language highlighter to use, either let the server handle it upon page delivery or follow in TGC's footsteps of letting javascript do the work on the user's end. I'm trying to keep the forum as lightweight as possible by avoiding things like jquery or other large libraries. We'll see if I stick to that once I get to file uploads, because what I have planned is based off of file management program I wrote as a frontend for Apache NiFi that ended up getting scrapped by the big man.

I'm working on this as much as I can, but my day job is something that is affected by things like DOGE and the past few weeks have been umm interesting.

File uploads and the syntax highlighter have been implemented. For now, file sizes are limited to 1mb but I'll up eventually. Believe it or not, handling large uploads through a website is not as straight forward as one might think. But I wrote my own chunking library that I've tested on 4GB files. (that was part of an older project of mine) I decided to use PrismJS for the code highlight, but had to build my own AppGameKit language file.

I didn't include all supported languages from Prism, but here's a list of what is support on my forum as of today.


I think everything from a user's perspective is complete. All the admin/mod type stuff in the background is still being developed. I also reworked how BB codes were handled.

I have had your website listed in the subreddit side bar for a while. However I notice you have a lot of missing forum sections, I am not sure if these are planned. I have the link labelled incomplete, I had been hoping to remove that. Will you be putting up the whole forum archive?
